Why did the judge order this pervert to unpaid work for the farmer's family? That seems like a punishment for the farm not the degenerate weirdo who was "interfering" with the cows. He was given a slap on the wrist because farm animals are aren’t granted the same protections or compassion household pets are; if they were, the government and livestock industries would suffer a tremendous loss in profits.
Female cows are regularly, sexually violated and impregnated in order to produce milk and birth calves. The distress he caused the calves is really no more traumatic than what they would have experienced in the future, the difference is that the suffering he caused wasn’t profitable. The farm lost money when the calves died before growing old enough to be inseminated by the farmers (with bull sperm, not their own) or sent to slaughter.
Animals, especially farm animals, are merely property in the eyes of the law so abuse is downplayed. It’s abhorrent.
