Women aren't always angels; I've had female patients curse, spit, and take a good swing at me. I've never been hurt by a female patient. The only women I've had get nasty or violent have been suffering from extreme mental health crises, the loss of a child, head injuries, or strokes. In those cases, you can be sure that they aren't going to be able to read a sign. Males are the big problem here.

That’s a key point: anyone in a rage isn’t reading a sign. They’re not going to switch off the fight activation in their brain and go “oh right I should Choose Compassion, just like the sign says!”

This is just virtue signalling and very blatant misogyny. I’ve never seen signage advising men to “choose compassion”.

See, this is a fair and balanced comment. You’re right; women aren’t angels. But the key to communicating this isn’t to outright LIE by depicting it as a majority or exclusive issue with women.

Overcorrection breeds a lot of resentment; it’s a little like how every major franchise reboot lately has made sure to race-swap like crazy, or shoehorn in token LGBTQWERTY stuff for diversity points. It’s not exactly doing GOOD things for love and acceptance for all.

Exactly

No sign about…dont come in and shoot the staff

Which has happened in the city this sign was featured in!!

Wow, just wow. Even a woman who was irritated or angry wouldn’t do most of this stuff. At worst she would yell. The current backlash is very bad my friends and I think most of us (including me) are frozen in shock and horror with no idea how to push back.

I really think a man made that! Probably one with a long search history full of "Karens getting owned" who is desperate to divert attention away from bad male behavior. The fact that it's only women behaving badly and a man is drawn as the victim 😂

Also, is this really a big concern in radiology offices? Are there lots of disgruntled patrons in such a place?

NOJanuary 6, 2024

We should make a yt channel named "Karen's getting owned" but exclusively post males

Carrots90 [OP]January 6, 2024

Definitely a ‘Karen getting owned’ connoisseur.

And yet, let his mom bring him a sandwich without the crust cut off…

Carrots90 [OP]January 6, 2024(Edited January 6, 2024)

I hope that male in the middle is ok…/s

The cursing one on the end is probably a woman too, tbh

Mods let me know if this is the wrong circle

To me, it represents purposely failing to name the problem because some ‘Karens’ got upset over staff rudeness and the video, which started halfway through, went viral

Is that an angry black woman throwing something? Just wow

Gotta be inclusive…..

I do wonder about whether any of these mouthy women are being abusive because of medical gaslighting/dismissal about their conditions/symptoms in the past. Sometimes I've found, you actually have to express yourself to your HCP in very forceful and direct terms for them to sit up and pay attention to what you're saying and not automatically dismiss it. For a lot of people (not just HCPs), any time a woman exhibits this kind of behavior, they interpret it as anger and inappropriate behavior.

Not trying to excuse truly abusive behavior here, but I've had to request my medical record be corrected when a doctor's notes said that I was intransigent and argumentative during an appointment, because I insisted that I get actual treatment for my crippling insomnia, instead of being told (yet again) to focus on sleep hygiene (which I already do). I was tired of being dismissed, but I was not abusive toward my doctor for expressing my feelings.

Probably a woman said ‘ow’ too loud when her breast was smashed in a mammo

EavaJanuary 6, 2024

That's kind of what I was thinking. I haven't had a truly awful mammogram, but I can see t being so painful you want to punch someone.

Carrots90 [OP]January 6, 2024

This was a radiology center. It should just be techs doing the study that was ordered

ElizabelchJanuary 6, 2024

I've seen a sign similar to this in a healthcare place I've had to go to regularly, but they used the same kind of genderless forms you see on most restroom signage.

I parsed all the "genderless forms" as male when I saw them. It's not like I don't know women can cause trouble and do everything shown on the sign. But doing it regularly enough, loudly and aggressively enough, to warrant signage? I associate that with men. Maybe because when I've been in healthcare environments, the ones causing the most trouble are always men. They might be patients, they might be there for a patient, but if shit's going down, it's almost always men.

Spencer_ShayyJanuary 6, 2024

Wow. I'd never go to this place AND I would complain.

Carrots90 [OP]January 6, 2024

Then my picture would be the fourth circle under ‘literal violence’

Maybe I should post this online and not cut out the insignia of the place

It is really offensive
