Ovarit runs on open source software called Throat: https://github.com/Phuks-co/throat

Our Throat fork can be found here: https://gitlab.com/feminist-conspiracy/throat

Throat is written in Python and JavaScript. A lot of the new work on Ovarit is being done in a Clojure application. If any of these languages interest you there is work to be done in them.

We’re replacing a lot of the Throat functionality and adding new features in Clojure. That code is here:

https://gitlab.com/happyriver/throat-be

https://gitlab.com/happyriver/throat-fe

At this point our branch differs from upstream fairly significantly for the usual reasons, and if you're interested in helping us, the best way to do so is to work on issues on our list and make pull requests through us. We still merge issues from upstream but it is a slower process.

We have a chat server for conspiring and working on the project, and if you're interested in contributing I highly recommend joining it. Everyone has questions about getting started. If you're interested in joining our project server (on Discord), send me a pm.

Since this is an open source project anyone can help, including men. The Throat devs have been super helpful and chill and we're very appreciative.

A getting started walkthrough can be found here.

oooo I'd love to contribute! And there's even a docker development setup already put together, sweet.
Thanks for the resources, now I just need the free time

But most of all, thank you to all the devs who have built and maintained Ovarit! 💖

Would love to help a bit, some of those issues look like low-hanging fruit. You say that

A lot of the new work on Ovarit is being done in a Clojure application.

...but I'm not seeing any Clojure files. The closest that I can find is a commit to enable EDN. I can't see anything other than Rust in the feminist-conspiracy organisation, either...

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Sorry about that! I didn’t think anyone would look that thoroughly before joining our chat. I added the links to the Clojure application in the OP.

Might be best not to post the Git links so openly, or you might get a mob of activists trying to get the project deplatformed for simply being associated with 'Team TERF'?

It's fine. It's not a secret, and the code is up for anyone who wants to make a site like this.
