This circle is for "meta" discussions about the Ovarit site or community that don't belong on other meta circles such as:

If you want to discuss thoughts about how Ovarit should be which aren't suggestions for new features (such as significant changes to site functionality that already exists); or suggest changes to or discuss the Sitewide Rules, Guidelines, Mission, etc; or have discussions about Ovarit or the Ovarit community itself; or ask for help on how to use the site, then this is the place.

No introduction posts.

It is not appropriate to air grievances against individual circles, their moderators, their users in aggregate, or specific Ovarit users here. If you want to contest your interactions with circle moderators (including content removals and bans), message the moderators of the circle. If you can't resolve the issue with the moderators themselves, then message the site admins.

Circles on Ovarit are directed by their specific moderation teams. If you have suggestions for a specific circle or circles, bring them up with the appropriate moderators. Topics are only relevant for this circle if they apply to the entire site.

The Sitewide Rules and Sitewide Guidelines are both enforced here.

Is there anything I should do if I legitimately feel that a person may be a troll? I'm seeing people post in support of things that are attacking other members (in a "how are you so stupid?" kind of vibe) and people posting support of things wildly opposed to the general vibe here, and almost seem a bid to challenge someone into an argument over it.

Is this something we should report, or just downvote and move on?

Is there anyone willing to help me figure out where to post what? Thx!

Hi! I'm new here. Is there anywhere where I can get help learning all the acronyms used? Google can only do so much. lol.

Dumb question, but I can't find out how one goes up through the levels? Is there an FAQ someplace. Looked through the Ovarit circle but couldn't find out...not so good at navving this site. Thanks for the help.

Hi and thanks for the invite code. I'm also on Twitter but it is hectic sometimes. Sometimes? Who am I kidding! Most of the time!

Hi. I'm a newcomer to the site with a question I hope is not out of line.

Recently I politely demurred in a thread and ended up with my comment being downvoted into negative numbers. Hey, it's a feature of the site, and so people have the right to express their disagreement by downvoting me, but I need to know whether or not that can affect the visibility of my posts -- i.e., my ability to make myself heard. Will the post vanish after a certain number of downvotes? Will I be kicked out if I get downvoted enough?

I've already been banned from three social platforms for saying that trans women are, in fact, biological males. I responded to my invitation here because Ovarit looks like a place for grownups to freely discuss issues within the context of Gender Critical feminism. I am not some trans lurker, not out to disrupt this place, but I do need to know the consequences of even politely framed disagreement.

I've been talking about issues online for well over thirty years, and have heard it all. I have a hide like a rhino, and the prospect of seeing comments of mine in negative numbers does not keep me awake at night. I just need to know whether that will effect my ability to post here, or express my views.

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Downvotes don't affect anything but the ranking of the post or comment voted on (how high they are in the list). Cumulatively for your account, they affect your score. Your score doesn't affect a lot, but does determine if you can give out invite codes or upload images. Downvotes don't result in bans.

That is hardly a dealbreaker, though I am disappointed that they can have any effect at all. I’ve never been a fan of downvotes on discussion forums because I’ve seen them used too many times to carry out what amount to personal vendettas.

Oh well. Guess I’ll stick around and take my lumps. I didn’t come here to post images anyway.
