Not sure where to post this, but I found out today that ovarit is the Latin.... whoo boy... third-person singular future perfect active indicative of ovō. Ovō is a verb that means to celebrate or rejoice.
Basically, Ovarit means something like "she will have rejoiced" **"she will have celebrated", which I think is a kind of cute interpretation of our community's name!
I love this! Also, hello fellow Latin nerd!
Haha hi from me, too. We're everywhere, it seems - and they say Latin is dead /s
Heyyy 😁 I’m just a lover of languages in general, but Latin is one of my fave dead ones.
Interesting! Where did you find this, discipula linguae latinae?
I go on Wiktionary a lot and search up random words to find their etymology, and I decided to try Ovarit and the definition actually came up!
wow - like a standing ovation! Totally did not think of that etymology, stuck on the ovum, oval, egg-related ones. How cool.
I thought it was a funny take on “over it.” Which is how I feel about the charade of trans ideologues.
It is, this is just an interesting second interpretation.
