MilestonesCelebrating three years since r/GenderCritical was banned
It was three years ago today that Reddit banned r/GenderCritical, which was at the time one of the few havens online to discuss gender ideology, radical feminism and women's issues.
Unbowed, the moderators created Ovarit so that these conversations could still be had. And from that wreckage, we and Ovarit's moderators now run 33 circles, for women-centred discussions on topics from gardening to STEM. Despite access being limited via invite codes to keep out trolls and bad actors, the number of members keeps growing. It hasn't always been easy-going, but the support and generosity of Ovarit's moderators, contributors, users and supporters have kept us going and thriving. With over 8000 registered users, & 65+k monthly visitors we aren't going anywhere.
I am personally very proud that we are contributing to the renaissance of radical feminism, through hosting vital conversations, sharing our ideas and experiences, and seeding feminist activism and solidarity between women.
