Dictionary or Glossary
Posted November 17, 2024 by FrankieDuck in Ovarit

I would be willing to write up a glossary or dictionary for women who are new to Ovarit, but there are other women here who could very likely do a better job than me. I am still not sure what a radfem is even after posting here for a long time and I am moderate not radical. A list of commonly used abbreviations would also help new users.

Not a butch but I love butch women. A woman with a swagger is SOOOO sexy. Can make me downright weak in the knees.

I love how it upends the whole masc/femme dialogue. I don't see butch women as "manly" at all. I just see a positive, confident woman with no apologies for doing womanhood however she likes. And that, to me, is "feminine" in its own way - because its apologetically female.

Get it ladies. I love you.

Yes!! Yes to all of this. When I see a gorgeous tomboy or a butch really show that they are unapologetically present and make themselves be felt in space that it’s just an awestruck thing and it makes me weak! I always say “there’s strength in softness” and I truly believe butches that are true to themselves define that particularly well. I see the feminine in the masculine in new ways.

jackets blazers -Collared button up shirts -having male dominated job to close that wage gap -having an emotionally competent partner who is also your best friend, who you don't have to beg to be nice/do things, and sex includes orgasms -nature hikes -being completey free of trying accommodate the male gaze -booming voice -can you imagine the lifetime $$ savings on cosmetics/beauty products? -will build my love a cabin -protector of women and girls -everyone's favorite aunt -smasher of patriarchy and gender conformity -canoeing/kayaking -being fearless and adventurous -did I say jackets?

Thank you for this post <3

As someone who has dated butches, I agree fully. That kills the entire "butch women are actually trans men!" argument, because butches overwhelmingly treat other women with respect and kindness, whereas men don't.

Also, I don't know why the canoeing/kayaking thing is so true, but oh boy it is.

Way back when, before I came out, it was the butch lesbians that gave me courage. They were fierce protectors of each other and being around them felt safe. Thanks to all of you who carry that weight of being visibly out in that way. The women around you, especially younger lesbians, are encouraged by your presence.
