Mine was extremely pleasant, although I wasn’t hate-reading so much as going into it thinking “lol are there really feminists that crazy?! I better find out what they’re saying so I can debunk it...

And it didn’t take long before I realized the type of feminism with stupid, nutty beliefs was the kind I thought was “normal”.

This was my experience too. I think I discovered radical feminist blogs on tumblr before being a "TERF" was the worst thing you could be, so I wasn't so much hate-reading as I was just reading to be entertained and to learn about a new perspective. Reading internet arguments and drama has always been my guilty pleasure and there were plenty of debates between radfems and libfems/TRAs to enjoy. And there was definitely this...scandalous? feeling, like "Wow, these people have such extreme views...but I kind of agree with them?" At first I was really hesitant to admit I was a radical feminist or gender critical. But more and more radical feminism just made sense in a way the opposing side didn't until it became a integral part of my views.

I am **SOO **thankful for ovarit. i feel like i am in a crazy world when i come across trans logic and I want to just scream.

I was banned from several subreddits this week (even those I have never posted in) for THIS:

"You can very much be a liberal and believe trans ppl deserve human right and be treated with kindness and dignity and still not make the jump that a trans woman is a woman."

THIS IS CONSIDERED HATE SPEECH

THIS was the response that was not considered hate speech:

No, you couldn't.

You either believe that the only defining trait of anyone is their genitals, ignoring everything that makes any human being a human, or you don't.

If you're saying a trans woman is not a woman, I would love to hear your definition of what a woman is. Is it a vagina? Because there are people born who are physically male but with a vagina. Is it a womb? There are women born without a womb, or who have had a hysterectomy. Is it having a period? Because then preteen girls and women who went through menopause are out. Is it breasts? Long hair? Wide hips? All of those can be found among people with a penis too.

Where is your line that distinguishes between a trans woman and a woman, and I will show you that your line is arbitrary and based on exclusion and hatred.

Don't give me that TERF shit. Fuck off.

Reddit is pedo trans central, you definitely won't miss it.

Reddit is steeped in misogyny. Even in mainstream subreddits, I can't count the number of times that I couldn't hold back and had to tell someone for instance, that sharing porn at work is sexist, and being downvoted to hell for it.

I got a 3 day serverwide ban, on all of reddit few months ago for stating that you cant just let a transwomen in as a gynaecologist or nurse with certain religious women when they asked for a woman and they clearly get a man in makeup and a dress. That its not fair to refuse them healthcare or force them to choose to leave because of this.

jungefrauFebruary 4, 2021

oh man. can you imagine??? who do the mods think they are??? I specifically choose women medical personnel for my lady bit problems (and oh! i have had so many lady bit problems!), and if a male nurse pretending to be a woman nurse came into the room i would just have to choose another provider.

I am so glad (in a way) you were banned too. It makes me feel less shitty about the whole thing if other ppl see it for how awful it is.

Glad i could relieve the shittyness somewhat ;)

You either believe that the only defining trait of anyone is their genitals, ignoring everything that makes any human being a human, or you don't.

That's not even what you were arguing. How the fuck does someone go from "what makes a person a woman" to "what a person's only defining trait is"? They're moving the goalposts and also lying about what you said.

A woman is an adult human being who was born with ovaries. The only physically male people who have a real vagina are CAIS males, and no one can tell they're male from the outside. Only women, and the occasional man with persistent Mullerian duct syndrome, can have uteruses. Only women can go through menopause. No man has distinctively wide hips, though he may have hips wider than the male average. All people have breasts. Hair isn't even a sex characteristic.

Only a fucking child thinks having a conversation about any of this is "hatred." And I'm insulting children because I've known five-year-olds more mature than these assholes.

this is the part that bugged me the most.

if the body of a person does not define what that person is, then what does? for trans ppl it is literally a feeling. but that does not translate to anything but gender.

when i was a little girl, there was a japanese family that moved into our apartment complex and i literally begged my parents to let me be japanese (I thought if I ate Japanese food i would look Japanese). the mom and her dauughters were the most beautiful women I had ever seen. They were very nice and would dress me up in silk summer robes with a bright yellow belt and they taught me some japanese phrases. Being causasian instead of japanese felt like a punishment. Do i have racial dysphoria and need surgery and hair dye so i can represent my true self as a Japanese woman?

larkaraptorFebruary 4, 2021

r/skeptic wasn't like that. Lots of people who are skeptical of trans ideology.

JooskeRunneboomFebruary 4, 2021

I just searched "trans" on r/skeptic and they must be the minority because it's the same crap as everywhere else on reddit

larkaraptorFebruary 4, 2021

When there was a posting on trans issues, there would be a lot of people disagreeing with trans ideology. They weren't constrained to toe the line, and not banned for disagreeing, and their comments were not deleted.

ladybrainhaverFebruary 4, 2021

Hahaha this is exactly how it happened for me. I can't say that having my entire identity ripped out from underneath me using basic logic and realizing every normal person in my life thought I was ridiculous was very pleasant, though...

Asha95February 4, 2021

Yup. That’s how it happens
