I just feel bad for Zoomers. When I was their age I dyed my hair different colors and crowd surfed in mosh pits.

Kids these days take pharmaceutical drugs (hormones) to cause irreversible bodily harm and bicker amongst themselves over terminology that means absolutely nothing outside of their little circles.

They don't have an actual counter culture anymore... they are the authoritarians, the strict enforcers of rules and bygone traditions. Their personalities revolve around ideological purity tests and contests for who is using the latest politically correct words.

Do they even smoke weed or anything?

I think it is also due to helicopter parenting Zoomers endured. Being a 70s baby, child/teen 80s, early 90s HS graduate, my friends and I didn’t even have helicopter parents. We just basically were everywhere raising hell in neighborhoods and downtown.

I have never helicopter parented my kids. I want them to make mistakes and learn from them like I did.

So true. We were shoved outside and didn’t have to go back until dinner. Also we had to work, baby sitting, paper routes and working fast food. And we got to ride bikes without helmets and play Red Rover.

No they smoke that lame ass CBD, and by smoke I mean vape.

Counterpoint: we Zoomers are also (slowly, slowly) finding radical feminism again 😎

GenZ is a generation where no one is allowed to be ugly or uninteresting. They have to be put together all the time, be unique and confirming, everything is made into an aesthetic instead of just living your life.

They police each other to the extreme to fit in too and they're bullied for any mistake. A bunch of kids always in the public eye and under pressure to seem perfect, growing up online and feeling the isolation and loneliness. Not to mention that they're the generation right after liberal feminism, bdsm/kink/fetish. Literal teenagers talking about knife fetishes or some shit. Nauseating. I feel for them, I hope they get out of their adolescence in one piece, because it's brutal for them. At least all my embarassing moments are just memories, instead of being public discourse and mockery.

Gen Z and both ugly and uninteresting, don't know if I'm in the majority or minority.

[–] Heca_ 9 points (+10|-1)

Everyone is ugly and uninteresting by social media's standards. I'm sure you are doing fine as a person and it's never too late to start learning new things and taking care of yourself.

[–] ixora 5 points (+5|-0)

Thank you! I do feel like my life has become so stagnant and repetitive thanks to the pandemic.

I am not going to tell you how you are, but I highly doubt you are uninteresting, after all, you do post here.

You are not here in this world to be decorative, sister. You do not owe anyone in the world this. I am not aesthetically pleasing, and I wasted so much time trying to correct this, and it would never be enough. Be glorious from within, from your own definition.

[–] ixora 0 points (+0|-0)

Thank you! It was this site that helped me feel much better about my looks and how I didn't owe it to anyone to be attractive. My confidence rose in myself because of it. I could be more interesting though.

Gen Z likes to dunk on Millennials (of which I am one, albeit on the tail end) but honestly, to me what they're doing is so much worse! Sure, we're not without our faults and we definitely helped the gender craze get started. But we always had people who argued against us and in retrospect I think that was healthy. Gen Z just silences whoever doesn't fit their current idea of "correct".

[–] [Deleted] 8 points (+9|-1)

I find the manufactured outrage between Gen Z and millennials to be rather annoying.

A LOT of radical feminism is spearheaded by Zoomers. FDS is filled with zoomers. The only reason I feel bitterness towards them is because FDS and/or radical feminism would have completely changed my life, and prevented a massive amount of trauma, if I had it growing up.

The Gen Zers I’ve spoken to seem smarter, more self aware, and sadly more nihilistic than millennials. Most of GC or rad fem spaces are filled with them. They aren’t a monolith of thought.

I do think growing up online and not knowing what life is without a screen has done and will of damage, but I don’t think Gen Z are all apart of the gender cult. In fact, I think the way feminism was taugh when I was in college is what led directly to Gen z.

It’s like they are left with all of all of the worst of boomers to millennials ideas on sex and identity. I believe millennials have the highest rate of acceptance of gender cult, with Gen Zs support Lower and waning.

All that is to say, as a millennial in my 30s, Gen z gives me a lot of hope. The only thing I can really judge them for is their deep fried memes. Let not pretend like millennials are all against the gender cult either, they are the ones who likely paved the way and endorse it.

I love that Zoomer women are using FDS. They need something to counter the bs published in Teen Vogue and the like. I love that FDS teaches them to have self-confidence and standards.

[–] Penthesilea 3 points (+3|-0)

I’m Gen Z. Probably 80% of the radfems I know are also Gen Z.

[–] Tnetennba 3 points (+3|-0)

Honestly I am so embarrassed by fellow Millennials. We're still trying to make it by our parents standards, but the world has changed and we aren't keeping up.

We started and popularized this trans shit and we have destroyed an entire generation of children. We have blood on our hands, I don't understand how that's "better" than the Gen Z kids actually standing up for themselves.

All the pronoun police and Great Twitter Thinkers are Millennials. Literally all of them.

[–] starry 2 points (+2|-0)

You are a lot more optimistic than me, haha. I'm 29 and have zoomer siblings. I hope you're right but I'll believe it when I see it.

[–] [Deleted] 0 points (+0|-0)

Understood, but remember that your siblings aren’t representatives for an entire generation! I have to embarrassingly admit I spent A LOT of time online during covid—which is the zoomers playground. I really liked most of the people I interacted with, granted these were in GC/RF spaces so that was probably a good filter for those indoctrinated into gender/woke cult.

[–] Vulvamort 20 points (+20|-0)

While I do agree with this I think this might be a little bit of the loud minority drowning out everyone else. There are some zoomers on saidit who oppose these things, they just aren't allowed to say so out of fear of being ostracized. Some of them are really bold anyway. The superstraight thing was started by a zoomer after all.

[–] banjo 13 points (+13|-0)

To try and find a silver lining.. hopefully this misstep will end up being extremely clarifying. To go so wrong with their understanding of sex and gender, and then to (hopefully) have to sit and think about why it was wrong could be really good. Like for me, even though I was never actively into gender ideology, I don't know if I ever would've thought critically about why sex is important and so on, if I wasn't forced to by this debate.

[–] Lilim 11 points (+11|-0)

I’m right on the Gen X/Millennial cusp and, yes, a lot of this nonsense is pushed by teenagers, but there are quite a few Millennials that were in high school or college about 15-20 years ago that really pushed queer theory online.

It’s more of an internet issue, with more and more social media influence and easier access to violent porn.

On the up side, it seems younger Zoomers are getting more and more fed up with the gender cult.

[–] elleelle 2 points (+2|-0)

Hey me too. I actually love being cusp. I fit in nowhere but everywhere.

[–] Lilim 2 points (+2|-0)

I always find Zoomer’s hatred of Boomers kind of amusing because I’m old enough to be these kids mom and my parents are Boomers. They think they’re raging against their parents but they’re talking about their grandparents (or feasibly even great grandparents at this point).

[–] hypatia tired of it all 1 points (+1|-0)

To be fair to Gen Z, a lot of the sexualization and grooming that they were exposed to was done by people MUCH older than them. The true tragedy is that we let our children plug into the internet, knowing what the internet is.

[–] LadySparklz 1 points (+1|-0)

Millenials are in a rough spot to correct the ship for the Gen Alpha kids...that's me included. We have a TON OF WORK TO DO!

[–] Tnetennba 3 points (+3|-0)

We wouldn't be in this spot if Millennials didn't go so hard for gender identity in the first place, to be blunt. This trans shit will be our legacy and our greatest embarrassment.

[–] LadySparklz 0 points (+0|-0)

Totally. It's been a trickle down. Social media is the biggest entity to blame.

[–] VuvlaWasMyKidsFirstWord 1 points (+1|-0) Edited

I’m a Gen X / millennial cusper who rebelled against everything as a teen. Struggled to fit in and got bullied because I slept around in a small town. Moved out at 16 and got in plenty of trouble and so many of my girlfriends ditched me because I was “too wild” and made my life hell. (My bad choices didn’t help of course)

My outlet was punk shows and mosh pits(like someone else mentioned haha what a lifetime ago that was)…

But I absolutely can’t imagine the pressure of social life online during those years. At least I could go home and be alone and play music or whatever and forget about the bullying after school every day.

I had a number of suicide fails - that even landed me in intensive care - as a teen. If I had the pressure gen Y/zooomers faced - 24/7 social media presence- I probably would have succeeded and missed out on a sometimes tough but amazing life I have now.

Gen X / Millenials faced a ton of in person peer pressure but this gen gets no breaks. There’s no time for reflection or even that feeling that eventually things will be ok.

They’ve also been fed these lies mixed with half truths for their entire lives.

Most of them really believe they’re doing the right thing which makes it even harder to counter.

The best comparison I can think of in terms of their certainty that they’re right - growing up being taught Pluto was a planet.

Imagine someone telling you there was only 8 planets ? You would have thought they were nuts.

I still have trouble and a deep loathing for Neil Degrasse Tyson supporting the demotion of Pluto lol.

On a whole they may seem like the most pampered generation- but mental health wise and information wise, no wonder they are the way they are.
