Anywhere I am is automatically a TERF Island.

drdeeisbackKabbalist BarbieFebruary 23, 2025

I'm currently rewatching one of my favourite series, Britannia (a 'historical fantasy' about the Roman invasion of Britain), and one of the best lines is the Roman general saying 'I am Rome...and where I walk is Rome.'

samsdatFebruary 23, 2025

That show was incredible. I’m so disappointed that they didn’t finish it. The ending made my jaw drop.

Have you read/listened to Manda Scott’s Boudica series? Highly recommend.

(I’m not from TERF island; I hope I’m not stepping on any toes commenting here)

drdeeisbackKabbalist BarbieFebruary 23, 2025

I know! I have to make up the ending of the story myself in my head.... Though on rewatching I'm realising there were a lot of 'clues' and foreshadowing that I missed the first time around.

samsdatFebruary 23, 2025

I also just started rewatching it - albeit halfheartedly, but now I’m more enthused, so I’ll keep an eye out for those things.

drdeeisbackKabbalist BarbieFebruary 23, 2025

I'm about 1/3 through season 3 - I should be painting my house and/or going for a swim, but maybe I'll finish the season today....

Anyone else remember that map a few years back that showed where all the "transphobia" was coming from? The U.K was lit up like a candle. Nowhere else came close, except a pocket of the United States on our Eastern seaboard, right about exactly where I live...

I'd love to see that map updated now. I bet a lot more of it is shining bright now!

I wish I could get JK Rowling to hex my tea.

PatitaGrisFebruary 24, 2025

By nature it would be a bless, not a hex

Born and raised in TERF island. Left in 1998 and now in US. So I clicked yes, but really don't know what it is like to live in the UK anymore.

I see Rowling as my fellow UK Gen X woman. We grew up with a female head of state and Prime Minister for the longest time and we thought the future was female. Sad what actually happened.

drdeeisbackKabbalist BarbieFebruary 23, 2025

Good point about women being highly visible on the public stage in a way that's never really been true of the US (except when Hillary was running for president).

I am the way I am because I got my lesbian card via mail by a bald Eagle who came down from the heavens, in which she also preached me the good word of America, “tell all men to fuck off”.

SonnetFebruary 23, 2025(Edited February 23, 2025)

Oh man, it never occurred to me that Americans get our wizard mail and pussy passes delivered by bald eagle, but we absolutely do.

Caw! 🦅

HoneycreeperBird LesbianFebruary 23, 2025(Edited February 23, 2025)

beautiful elegant eagle screeching

No better way to get lesbian cards via Eagle Mail

lskiFebruary 23, 2025

Yes I am.

Whenever it's referred to as Terf Island I get a little warm glow of pride.

broccolipathsofgloryFebruary 23, 2025

Me too!

istaraFebruary 23, 2025

I think many/most gender critical British women are likely already served by Mumsnet in terms of having an open forum to discuss these issues.

CattitudeFebruary 23, 2025

Not as open as here. Mumsnet panders too much to TIMs. It allows them to infest the feminism board and until very recently deleted comments that mentioned AGP.

samsdatFebruary 23, 2025

until very recently deleted comments that mentioned AGP.

Did they change that rule? Because it sounds like a tiny gate but it’s actually a floodgate.

CattitudeFebruary 23, 2025

I don't know if they changed it, it wasn't consistent when I was last there a couple of months ago.

istaraFebruary 23, 2025

Really? I did not know that. I thought it was pretty free, so that's disappointing to hear.

CattitudeFebruary 23, 2025

You can't call TIMs that, let alone say that they are all paraphiliacs, and there's a TIM regular who's utterly full of misogynistic shit and the mods just allow him there.

JoediFebruary 23, 2025

Am Scottish, so am the worst by birth and by choice!

SonnetFebruary 23, 2025

Favorite answer.

ArtemisfacepalmedFebruary 23, 2025

Born in the UK, raised in the US. Really don’t have much experience in British culture, but every time TRA’s whine about TERF Island I still feel patriotic pride

a_shrubFebruary 23, 2025

No, but they've definitely influenced my word contractions. Instead of saying something like "I haven't seen it" like a proper Canadian, I've started being like "I've not seen it" 'cause I been reading/listening to so much TERF island stuff.

Haworthia_LadyFebruary 23, 2025

In Australia we all have to play pretend online but we’re all raging TERFs IRL, especially outside the trendy parts of some cities.

SeekingcriticalthinkFebruary 24, 2025

really? How do you mean online? Like for official work stuff? When you say IRL do you mean what people really think?

I'm in Australia and I feel like I still have to keep any TERF approaching views quiet or tentative/ plausibly deniable if speaking to people I don't know well/ don't know are TERFs themselves.

CattitudeFebruary 23, 2025

I'm grateful I'm unlikely to work again, because the TRA bullshit in workplaces isn't something I could endure. I'm also very grateful that I've never seen a TIM where I live, and indeed only saw one in all the years I lived in a TIP-infested capital.

notsofreshfeelingFebruary 23, 2025

Born in the USA but I made a point to visit TERF island recently and attended a Let Women Speak there.

terventer_magisterFebruary 23, 2025

A satisfied Terf Islander here. 🖕😎🖕

NastasyaFillipovnaFebruary 23, 2025

Redditors who can't think for themselves want others to be like them as well

CattitudeFebruary 23, 2025

Australian here.

Metal_detectorFebruary 23, 2025

I’m from the TERF swamps and now I reside in the TERF desert.

AtropaBelladonnaFebruary 23, 2025(Edited February 23, 2025)

I was born this way. Then I was raised and nurtured at the end the 2nd wave. JKR says the things I wish I could say IRL.

I wish to everything that a viable global common sense movement that actually supports women existed.

It seems the world’s progressives believe in the fallacy that people can change sex. The alternative is the side that absolutely can never ever accept that women are full human beings.

SonnetFebruary 23, 2025(Edited February 23, 2025)

It seems the world’s progressives believe in the fallacy that people can change sex.

Which is nuts, because even post-op trans women still have less than half of female sex-specific organs. Even if you believe it could happen someday - even if you believe we should act as though some TIMs have changed sex - surely you don’t think estrogen pills and the outer appearance of a semi-functional vagina are literally all there is to female sex.
