I did this in Target. The girls t's were so insipid and uninteresting, and the boys' stuff looked so dynamic and fun, that I took a bunch of boy's ts and put them in the girls' section. It really seems like the sexual divide is really being pushed hard to kids these days.
Its wild how the SJWs fixated on the toy aisles and making sure the word "girl" wasn't posted next to the Barbies. But they have nothing to say about the ridiculous gender divide when it comes to clothing sold for babies and toddlers.
Ugh, baby girl clothes are so obscene. Why does a baby need spaghetti straps??
The shorts they sell for little girls are also ridiculous. Sheer fabric and they look like daisy dukes a lot of the time. I only get "boys shorts" for my little girl
I have a son and I hated the stuff sold to him too, "little monster" "here comes trouble" and things like that
For a store that is supposedly so interested in “equality”, their girls vs boys sections sure are sexist.
My friends daughter is a tomboy. She can hardly find anything at target that’s not covered in unicorns and flowers and glitter. And her grandma got mad when she wanted the blue shark print rain boots from the boys section (instead of the pink or purple ones, which were the only option in the girls). But I know target has a male modeling some of the junior women’s clothes, not to mention all the trans memorabilia. Weird huh.
I think the shark boots sound way cooler and I’m practical but not really GNC. I swear I start to think the seventies and eighties were a halcyon period for children. We all wore jeans and t shirts from Sears girl and boy alike. One of my friends wore her brothers hand-me-down tough skins and nobody thought a thing about it.
Yep. I was 90s and it was still pretty even, with more Disney Princess stuff but I was a tomboy and it was very easy to find clothes in the “girl” section for me. Just mentioned this in another comment but it sucks that if someone did come out with more neutral kids clothes again they’d probably just make it specifically for “trans/nb” kids and totally lose the plot
Well, if your friend's daughter can't stand to wear glitter 24/7, she's obviously trans and needs testosterone right away! God forbid you just let her be a girl who wears blue shark patterned rain boots!
For real though, I only buy "boy shorts" for my toddler daughter. Because the shorts made for girls are mostly tight, clingy, and/or look like Daisy Dukes. And they barely conceal a diaper (which should be the entire point of baby/toddler pants)
Thankfully no risk of transing her at home, at least - grandma and mom are pretty conservative immigrants. But grandma is definitely just old school “girls can’t wear things made for boys! The horror!” . Girl gets upset because she loves grandma but knows it’s bs . She hangs out with me a lot and thinks I’m “the coolest” - so she’s got at least one super GNC short haired unshaven barefaced influence 👍
Yeah her mom is having a hard time with shorts for her now - especially since she does sports and wear athletic style. She’s almost 12 and everything has zero inseam. The shorts built into the skorts she wears are longer than her actual shorts. All her friends wear the booty shorts and their parents don’t care of course
Worst part is if someone did come out with neutral kids clothes again, I feel like they’d just capitalize on the tRaNs/nB and completely miss the point
Meanwhile, one of my sons got angry in a clothing shop because all the boy stuff was boring and girls get all the sparkles!
Yeah I feel like all kids like shiny things lol it’s ridiculous how we enforce random norms
I never thought of doing that. Maybe next time I'm at Walmart.
This won’t do anything, employees will just have to move them back to their designated sections.
Honestly the employees in my town dngaf. They aren’t paid enough to. So I doubt it.
No that’s not how retail works, it’s a function of their job to return merchandise to the proper areas. Especially in a huge corporate chain like Target. Managers are compelled to ensure employees have completed these types of tasks, it even becomes a part of employee evaluation which affects job security, raises and promotions. Have you ever worked in retail?
I’ll do it every day then
By all means try it, and the employees may start to notice and may take efforts to bar you from the store. Maybe not though! Don’t know what you’ll hope to accomplish but let us know how it goes!
Next time I'm in the store, I'll move all the hideous "be kind" t-shirts from the girls section into the boys section 🤣
I hate it when my niece shows up wearing those. She doesn't need to be told to be kind, the world will beat that into her. She needs to be told to hold her boundaries.
Considering how many men are assholes, the boys' section definitely need these shirts more than girls 😓
Considering how many boys are assholes already
I want to bring out my own line of womens clothes, one of the tshirts will say "Be Kind...of a Bitch"
That’s a good idea. I’ll do that too. I hate those shirts with a burning passion.
Even better!
