Poor lady. Idk what I would do if a TIM sat next to me in public like this, especially since it would be awkward and look “terfy” to change seats, putting one at risk of confrontation, even violence. My body would go into fight/flight/freeze/surrender mode. But god, the smell alone emanating from these creatures would be unbearable enough, even without the creep factor. 🤮

Remember, women, btw: if a man threatens you, especially if he’s attacking or about to attack you, his weakest areas are the eyes (you can gouge them both at the same time by making a peace-sign shape with your hand), throat (a good punch or karate chop to his Adam’s apple will stun him at the very least, but be careful, as this can be deadly, use with extreme caution — I recommend this approach only if you’re in danger of being raped or murdered tbh), and last but not least, his groin. Always use The Gift of Fear (great book btw) when you are feeling like there might be a threat. Get out of there if you can, make noise, yell that this man is threatening you. Listen to that gut instinct! Unfortunately due to the bystander effect, there’s a good chance people won’t help, but being exposed to the public, especially if people are filming, might be enough to make the man stop pursuing/hurting you.

I used the eye gouge defense when my ex was trying to hurt me & it instantly worked, and he instantly let go of me, backed away, and was like, “Ow, what the fuck?!?!” But it finally gave me enough time to flee to another room and barricade myself against the door.

A well-placed groin kick also stopped a man who was about to rape me.

I understand that a lot of the time, the freeze or fawn/surrender response can take over instead of the fight or flight one, and there’s no way to tell how your body or mind will react to any new threat. But it’s worth at least trying to program your brain to start fighting back against these creeps. Also, I highly recommend learning the self-defense laws in your state or country (although to me, it’s worth risking a legal charge like battery to the man if you get away without being raped/murdered/harmed).

Those seats are in banks of four - he's purposefully chosen to sit right next to the woman despite this not being etiquette on the London underground - any one else would choose to sit furthest from her.

She shouldn't have to, but I would get up and move, especially in a public place like that. If it's not my office, and no one can fire me, Im going to treat them the same way as any guy who creeps me out.

This is why self-defense is a feminist issues, these men need to be pepper-sprayed.

I definitely would have confronted the guy who took the picture and made him delete it, I’ve done that before on public transport and it sent my adrenaline through the roof but I’d do it again!

Hopefully I’d be brave enough to ruin the pervert’s day by repeatedly calling him a dude as well. “Sorry but please can you delete that picture of me and your friend and retake it with just him? I don’t want to be in a picture with this man”
