Fun fact: Moaning Myrtle was killed by a boy in the girls' bathroom.
If Himdia had read the Harry Potter books, he'd know Rowling would expect him to make snake noises. (Only not really, because she knows that her books are fiction and real men like Willyboy won't kill her by ordering their basilisks to do it, but in much more mundane and way less interesting ways.)
I love JK so much. She’s one of the few celebrities who seems genuinely down to earth, genuine and moral.
I don’t have Twitter - her profile picture is lovely. I think she is beautiful on the inside and the outside. Her courage, wit and refusal to back down is so admirable.
I’d like to add that India is just a low IQ misogynist thirsting for attention. Give it up you cretinous male.
Anybody inflated enough to think he can outsmart a writer in writing form is just asking to be figuratively bashed
I love her answer. Very calm and down to earth. But I don't understand Willy's comment... Why would he think she would expect ghost noises? Is it a reference to Moaning Myrtle? I don't get it...
I think the joke is supposed to be that Rowling would expect him to make ghost noises because (in his mind) she finds TIMs exaggeratedly "scary."
Basically treating her criticisms of self-ID as irrational, just like any other MRA complaining that women "demonize" men.
Like no, India, women aren’t scared of ghosts. We’re scared of men raping, assaulting and harassing us.
Fucking clueless imbecile.
Basically because he's an idiot, and he thinks this is what passes for clever.
He's not clever enough for the reference to Myrtle. He's also dumb enough to think he can outwit her, but not so stupid to know that mentioning her gets him views. Everything he says is purposeless, but her responses to him are always worth it for us haha
She is hilarious but I'm so disgusted thinking of how often and how passionately India imagines being in the same bathroom with her...
A man fantasizing about making moaning “ghost” noises in the bathroom. Just to bother other women. Sounds about right.
Someone needs to remind him women are harmed/killed by men throughout the world and since forever
Harmed by ghosts? Even people who believe in ghosts would say rarely/never
So, Himdia, your male voice will be scary enough
This is some Reddit tier humour where normal people are like, "can you explain how this is funny?" Or maybe he's doing that thing perverts do where they joke about their perversions before they get caught with a minor in a public bathroom.
When will these eejits learn not to try to match wits with JK Rowling? They always lose.
Sounds like a weird middle-school boy. Cringy for a pre-teen and creepy stalker vibes from a man. 🤮
He's such loser and a creep. Why does he keep begging for her attention.
The small amount of fame he had for his appearance on reality TV faded, his trans activism is only gaining him a mild following, and he's desperate for the attention of somebody famous.
They always think they’re posting some inescapable, ironclad checkmate and are so self-satisfied about it. “Oh no, not that! Ghost noises! Scary! I realize now that I’m literally Hitler.”
Or… one could just recognize it as practically a non sequitur and roll their eyes and wonder how this person remembers to not look up when it’s raining and drown.
Why does he even bother? She is so much smarter and wittier than him. She wins every single time. Doesn't he get tired of embarrassing himself? Maybe he's into public humiliation.
more likely he's just so arrogant that he thinks his pontifications will somehow 'show her' and he's stupid enough to not learn from repeated experience
I love that she claps back and I love that they absolutely loathe her for it so much they twist themselves into knots in their rage.
She is pretty hilarious...on the other hand, she is giving him attention and eyeballs which is what he's after.
I'm guessing this is a reference to Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter? Because, apparently Willy Boy doesn't understand that Rowling KNOWS Harry Potter isn't real and that ghosts don't haunt public toilets
Off topic, but does anyone know when the next Strike novel is coming out?
The only reason I go on Reddit any more is to see if there's any news on the Cormoran Strike subreddit. Prevailing opinion on there seems to be around summer up to September of next year, since Rowling has said she's 'nearly done' (or variations thereupon) very recently.
someone made a spreadsheet on there a while ago to see the general delays between announcements of book finishing vs. availability in shops and to use that to predict the release date of this one, but I think the predicted dates already passed.
Someone also pointed out that the majority of the books have come out around September. Basically, everyone's going increasingly crazy guessing and occasionally Rowling throws us a little tidbit that throws everyone into a frenzy.
I am very excited for the next one! I need my Robin fix and I need it soon...
I was going to say "the last one was just a year ago so it might be a while" and then I saw that it was released only 1 year after the previous one.
Found the answer, it's March 15: https://www.therowlinglibrary.com/2024/03/15/j-k-rowling-reveals-title-of-strike-8-the-hallmarked-man/#:~:text=March 15%2C 2024.&text=Unexpectedly and through Twitter%2C J.K.,%3A “The Hallmarked Man.”
Threatening a woman by telling her that you're going to follow her into the toilet and start moaning at her is a totally womanly thing to do. Why are all of y'all so wary about sharing toilets and changing rooms with poor, oppressed India?
