I've been a lurker here for some months and finally decided to join. I've never been big on social media, but after reading the ridiculous things people say on sites like Reddit and YouTube, I couldn't stay silent any longer. The blowback I've gotten for trying to make clear and logical arguments, the bans on Reddit, the things I've been called, the childish attitudes of the people I've spoken to, and even the things I've heard from some friends and family trying to have conversations about this subject had left me feeling almost numb with disbelief at how disconnected from reality so many have become.

This site is a breath of fresh air, full of very intelligent women who deserve a space to speak their minds in peace. I appreciate everyone who comments here. It has helped me feel not so alone and not so helpless to the insanity I see happening all around me. So thank you all for that!

Being able to make sane comments and actually have them supported here has helped me feel more control over all the bad emotions trans bullshit has been raising in me. It's the "Island of Common Sense and Reality" in a veritable ocean of terminology slippage, censorship, obfuscation, and pro trans media spin.

My favorite thing about being here, though, is how absurdly intelligent and witty everyone is here. There are tons of scientists, PhDs, and deep thinkers of all types represented here, and since it's a relatively small community, each person's own individual perspective is immensely valuable. I feel like we all contribute to educating each other from our own unique life experiences and intellectual specialties, so absolutely everyone's voice matters.

Yes!

I love the women here. There is so much thoughtful discussion, wittyness, and really good well-informed comments. It feels like the only place left with genuine conversation. Even when we disagree we still have a civilised discourse. You are all wonderful, and I am so happy to be in this space.

I really like Ovarit for all the reasons you mention. Another thing I really love about this place is there is no bizarre one-upping, story-topping, out-woking stuff happening in the threads. Generally, everyone is engaging in actual conversations online, instead of a contest to have the hottest take. The vibe is so different from Discord, Reddit and Twitter and it's such a relief to scroll through thoughtful and interesting comments (even though a lot of what we discuss is rage-inducing!).

That is a really excellent point. There are no men, what do you expect? (Kidding - or half kidding - aside, it's nice not to have to scroll through a sea of constantly-online antagonism to get to the good parts. I like reddit but I stick carefully to all the genuinely supportive communities. The GC parts of Twitter are full of TRAs.)

It is genuinely the opposite of what I thought "feminism" was before I joined. Got my first dose of gender woo IRL the other day since peaking, and had to try hard not to let my exasperation show on my face. It was from a woman too sigh

Thank you too <3 It feels so bizarro land not to be able to point things like this out, so it's nice to have a pocket of sanity where you can say you're an "atheist" and no one will call you awful names or act like you're homophobic.
