They're EVERYWHERE. There's been a whole thing on the fountain pen subreddit over a new set of Harry Potter themed fountain pens with people claiming JK Rowling has caused the actual deaths of trans people. People who had no idea and just wanted HP pens have been run off and "educated". You'd think people who enjoyed writing would be able to employ a bit of critical thinking but apparently not.
Been following this one. Nutz. Purity spirals are everywhere.
The FP sub was one of my happy normal places in Reddit, having seemingly successfully fended off the baitposts, until now. Couldn't retort, so am contemplating a Slytherin pen, just to be silently trolly. On the up-side, who else didn't know that JKR also founded a MS (and other neuro diseases) clinic, in memory of her mother? Found out about it while I was composing unwritten retorts. Never got to meet one of my grandparents because they died from MS before I was born, having gone through all the horrible treatments of that time. So up yours, haters. Going to get that pen.
Yes, same here. I've just been ignoring it and upvoting any sense I come across. I'd love to get the set but the Safari grip just doesn't work for me and I'm skint! I hope you enjoy the Slytherin pen!
It's not my favourite grip, I'll admit. I have a demonstrator Safari, but I can't use it for long sessions or if my hand is particularly tense (mood, or a lot that I want to get down--sometimes I just have to move to the computer and hork up the hairball via the keyboard, and then go back to my notebook.) My handwriting is such a barometer of my state of being.
Ok genuinely as kindly as possible,
What did you expect from that kind of subreddit? A forum on Reddit.com about people who are preparing to flee because they think that theyâre going to be marched to death camps because the democrats lost the election is bound to be filled to the brim with libfems and handmaidens and people who invest way too much in being cultishly devoted to a single ideology. People who are extremely online. People who are trying to flee America because theyâre worried that theyâre not going to be able to get âtitty skittlesâ anymore.
Its also a direct offshoot of TwoX which has been very antiwoman/pro trans for years
I just scrolled through the top posts of all time and pretty much every single one is posted by a âqueer disabled trans personâ
Were you in this subreddit before the election?
Typically they'll describe themselves as queer, disabled, and neurodivergent trans people!
Yes, I was there before the election, and as far as what I expected - I was actually cautiously optimistic because it seemed like a womenâs sub without the gender woo which I thought was impossible. If you check the top posts of all time, youâll see the vast majority of the top results are very very recent, but actually youâd have to go in to check the poster to see if theyâre trans, because the posts Iâm seeing arenât obviously trans related. My point really is that this has been a woman centric place for a while and it was really nice, and there were some properly sensible discussions about the reality of being a woman in a world where youâd actually need to use your preps, and now itâs gotten popular because everyoneâs freaked out because of the election, and so the TIMs come running.
I wouldnât call myself a prepper at all, Iâm just fascinated by the concept as a thought exercise so I follow the subreddit as itâs thought provoking for me. I donât think itâs fair to characterise the people there as hysterical leftists, I think that people are just as likely to be fairly conservative tbh. Itâs only recently itâs gone to shit, before it was reasonable conversations about things women would be interested in like, what to pack in a go bag specifically for our needs, how to make sure you have enough contraception, what kind of food to buy, etc.
Your post reads sort of dismissive of the entire idea of a womanâs prepping group and I donât know why. You donât have to be extremely online or ideologically captured by the left to think it might be a good idea to have some food and water extra, and to know where your documents are and keep them safe. The concept covers everything from fleeing violence to natural disasters, it seems sensible and not politically affiliated in any direction to be aware of what you should be preparing for.
Iâm dismissive of the idea of prepping post election, as in trying to flee America and claim asylum in Western Europe or something because of the election results. I think those people are hysterical. Leftist is relative, but Iâd generally characterize them as that, yeah.
I have pretty much no opinion on preppers as a group of people in general, although I will say that any earnest prepper I meet irl who does it as a hobby tends to be supremely neurotic. But itâs also practical to be prepared for earthquakes so đ€·ââïž
I guess Iâll rephrase my comment. Honestly I donât understand why there even needs to be a female only offshoot for preppers, since most differences in the cases of things like natural disasters can be covered in a sidebar or a handful of posts, but if people consider it necessary, fine whatever. Female only spaces can be helpful. I like the female subs about packing light. My comment was intended to express my disbelief that you thought any female only subreddit, especially one directly off of TwoX (one of the most TIM infested non porn subs), would not turn into a nest of âtenderqueersâ and TIMs whining about estrogen pills.
I have never ever applied the concept of âpreppingâ to leaving DV situations, and I doubt most people would associate that word with that idea, but again, I think thatâs normal to have a sub forum for, I just would never try and put it on Reddit of all places. Those kind of support forums specially for helping women leave abusive situations already exist and definitely not on Reddit, unless you want it to turn into the simpering handmaiden show.

Regarding this⊠itâs actually a common pattern Iâve noticed with a lot of online spaces tbh, especially on Reddit. It doesnât matter what topic that a subreddit is centered on, the men in the group even when they make up a smaller proportion of the subâs members seem to often end up dominating the space and creating such a hostile, argumentative, or misogynistic environment that the female members just canât participate in peace, causing fewer female members to participate overall, which in turn makes the online space be perceived as too negative and hostile so it repels new female members from joining who wouldâve otherwise.
And eventually, if/when some women get fed up enough regarding having lost a space to speak about a subject they care about, theyâll end up creating their own separate women-only subreddit. (Or for some topics, they might create subreddits that are âfor everyoneâ but with rules against misogyny, since when men mod an online space, they usually allow any misogyny to go unchecked. So the women-run subs end up having a better, less hostile environment.)
While the "prepper community" can overstate the case for fascist takeover to a comic extent, I wouldn't jump to dismiss prepping. The new administration doesn't believe in climate change, and is determined to defund all government agencies that help people, including FEMA. Natural disasters are going to get worse, it's unlikely much mitigation help will be coming from the feds in the next 4 years, isolated communities can expect to be on their own for up to a couple of weeks when serious storms or earthquakes happen.
Personally, I think it's more helpful to build local networks of cooperation than it is to stockpile ammo, but even urbanites can plan for being self sufficient for several days following a grid outage.
Right, as I said in my comment I donât dismiss prepping outright. I know a couple preppers irl. I just tend to think that when it becomes, like, a way of life and when people gather in internet communities to talk about it, it can get hysterical and ridiculous.
Iâm all for people leaning how to prepare for certain disasters. I have a bunch of supplies stockpiled in my basement for exactly that reason.
The subreddit now has disclaimer saying âeven though I used XX in the name this sub is trans inclusive and pro LGBTQIAâ. WWWHHHYYY? What about XX means trans inclusive?
Why does "trans inclusive" never mean "inclusive of the trans people to whom this applies"? In this case, all the XX trans people?
(Kidding, I know why, because "trans inclusive" means penis inclusive, because the first rule of genderism is that penis gets what penis wants.)
If these TIMs were actually in a situation where there was a huge survival advantage to being male, they would very rapidly rediscover their inner man.
I noticed that post too. It really sucks to see how TIPs and TRAs have brainwashed and guilted regular women so much to the point that many of them just start automatically downplaying their own concerns about themselves in order to ensure that they can make their point and share their opinions and feelings online without the risk of TIMs derailing the subject to make it all about them.
After that comment from that one woman worrying about her access to HRT as a âcis womanâ in menopause and her obligatory âoh but I know that my issues as a cis woman arenât anywhere near as important as trans rights, and I know that trans women have it so much worse, Iâm just so worried tooâ, one woman basically responded âwell, why arenât cis womenâs concerns important though?â which had a lot of upvotes. I wouldnât be surprised if that comment was the sole reason why the OP TIM seemed to backtrack by saying âoh, no one here is trying to say that one group of womenâs rights to HRT are any more important than another group of womenâs rightsâ. Otherwise, Iâve noticed that TIMs often tend to prioritize their own issues and struggles and try to keep the focus and sympathy mainly on them lol.
These people are so far removed from reality and obsessed with their avatars that they can't even comprehend what an actual life emergency truly means. There's something extremely wrong with anyone who puts their hormones and appearance first during, oh I don't know, water shortages and war. No one cares whether they're a man or a woman during brutal times, it's about basic survival and trying to just keep your body in one piece. Even actual women who legitimately need HRT would focus on other things first in dire situations.
I'm currently dealing with bad health problems and I couldn't care less about how I look, I'm just focusing on getting better. Their self-inflicted imaginary issues really make me so angry when it comes to these serious topics. What kind of person thinks about inclusivity when prepping for the apocalypse?
Oh, I think it matters very much whether one is a man or woman during brutal times. One type of person is far more likely to assualt the other type. One type must consider the availability of hygiene products. One type could get pregnant from an assault by the othet type, etc.
Of course. I mostly meant that no sane woman would focus primarily on being a woman or being perceived as one in those situations unless, as you said, she found herself in a situation where her sex was directly putting her in danger.
I just checked out r/TwoXPreppers and sorted by top of all time, I just want to say that aside from the handmaiden fawning this is much more practical than every male oriented prepper community which seems to LARP about a fantasy standoff with federal agents. I say this as someone who has been banned from such communities in the past for calling out the conspiracy theories promoted there.
Before the fall of the Berlin Wall, they were acting like the movie Red Dawn was on the brink of occuring in real life.
It really is a shame that women lack female solidarity comparable to men's. This whole nonsense might have been avoided if women stayed on code.
We can never ever have anything for ourselves, and when we try, it gets given away by fucking stupid simple backstabbing women whoâd sell their own grandmas for a pat on the head from a dick-wielder.
This is so true it hurts. The handmaidens often make me angrier than the TIM colonizers. Because the handmaidens claim to be the most liberal and feminist women in the world; while they sell the rest of us out for head pats from anonymous men in drag.
I swear every time Iâm in a sub geared toward women, even ones labeling themselves feminist, I can spot the TIMs a mile away. Some of them are mods. Some are the ONLY mods of FEMINIST subs.
I suppose we could code a bot or even more than one bot to post nonsense on their subreddit but I don't know how to do it plus they may just erect a Karma Barrier and stuff...
I saw a post by a TIM on TwoX that was all "waaaah, I'm scared because of the election, will you all protect me? đ„șđ„șđ„ș" And of course it was "oh yes girl, we're here for ALL women blah blah." I wanted to be like "why do you think you can hide behind us and cling to our skirts like a sniveling toddler who didn't get his way when you haven't done a GOD DAMN THING for womens rights?? Go March for ACTUAL women's rights like birth control and legal safe abortions. Go get in the faces of the assholes tormenting women walking into planned parenthood. Stand up to the dickhead in the bar who won't stop harassing women or who just drugged someone. As long as all you're about is trying to get unpunishable access to women's spaces, sports, and vaginas, go cry into your own skirt." Ugh.
Typical. Women around the globe are losing their civil rights. Women in America have died because the repeal of Roe caused confusion about when an abortion can legally be done even in cases of life and death complications. Teenage girls have died in Iranian prisons because they didn't wear a hijab correctly. Women in Afghanistan have been banned from existing in public by the Taliban. There are epidemics of vicious gang rapes in places like India. Many female hostages are still in the clutches of the notoriously rapey men of Hamas. Sex trafficking is a growing international problem. Etc.
But these privileged western handmaidens are primarily concerned with serving as emotional support animals to men in lipstick. Fucking shameful!
TIMS never ever fight for womenâs rights. They donât give a shit. They donât even really seem to know what womenâs rights are, to be totally frank. So youâre right and Iâm glad you said it! What has any TIM ever done for women?! Absolutely nothing, yet weâre expected to bend over backwards for them.
I'd honestly be a little concerned that if a TIM were doing those things, it'd be for fetish reasons.
