The age thing is interesting. One thing I've noticed about TiMs in women's sports is that some of the adult ones go out of their to be around underage girls specifically.

Given the increasing number of underage players playing on first teams, I’m not surprised that BPL and FIFA would have locker room rules for minors. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t have those same rules for women, justifying it with something about adult women not being dangerous to girls. Although most leagues do have rules about male coaches entering female locker rooms.

Minors aren't being protected; the league's reputation is being protected. It's all about money.

Gay men still don't come out on these teams. Can you imagine a rumor of anything happening to a minor?

Good. Protect underage men. We all know men are a danger to boys.

If only women and girls (who are at much greater risk) could be afforded the same dignity and safety.

Exactly

Especially since this 17 year old, as a precocious athlete, is more able to protect himself from men than girls can

I wouldn’t want to stop boys from safeguarding but I really do wish we could also understand the importance of safeguarding girls and women. It’s insane where we are.

You might have read about the 17 year old girl in the UK who asked the coach about a TIM playing against her team. She spoke about being worried for her and her teammates safety and was banned for 6 matches. I met her a couple of months back at a women in sports event and she was fab. It really heartens me to see girls and younger women not taking any shit and I’m hopeful that they can help make things change in the right direction as they’re the ones right at the heart of this.

The men's sports sphere is far more homophobic than women's sports because men don't like the idea of being sexually objectified. There are far fewer men that came out as gay in the Premier League than women that came out as lesbian. Men're just rewarding the openness of women by inserting biological men into women's league and forcing them to accept it.

They identify as predators, not prey

TerfisnotadirtywordMarch 17, 2025

I can't believe it never clicked that that's why men are homophobic! It makes so much sense!

GenderHereticMarch 18, 2025

They fear men treating them as they treat women.

Carrots90 [OP]March 17, 2025

Where’s the Apartheid comparison??

LillithMarch 17, 2025

But what if his teammates identity as a younger age?

CryingInYourInboxMarch 17, 2025

Wait why does he have to change in a different place? He's a biological male right?

starlight_chaserMarch 17, 2025(Edited March 17, 2025)

Under 18. I mean the limited knowledge I know about sportsmen being "ultra gay" with teammates, constant spanking and touching and grabbing, dick-contests, "locker-room talk", it's probably more to protect them from liability and getting reports of minors being sexualized, than anything actually resembling protecting people.

pennygadgetMarch 17, 2025

Yeah, its definitely more to cover the asses of the adult male players than to protect the 17 year old boy.

CryingInYourInboxMarch 17, 2025

I see that makes sense. Well, I agree minors should get their own spaces

Carrots90 [OP]March 17, 2025

They’re all male, but he is underage so he gets a protected place to change

Because we know not all men, but almost always men

pennygadgetMarch 17, 2025(Edited March 17, 2025)

According to his shirt, he plays for the United Arab Emirates. So I don't know if the trans comparison would apply to him. But the point is still a good one. Boys get protected. Girls get told to get fucked (both figuratively and literally)

BisphosphateMarch 17, 2025

Emirates Airlines sponsors his team. He plays for Arsenal, a football club in London.

My bad. I was basing my assumption on the uniform he was wearing in the picture
