Advice neededAdvice for young woman interested in medicine and working overseas

Hi, I will try to keep this as general as possible because I'm looking for any and all advice. If this sounds ignorant, bear with me. We're not getting a lot of help through her school and I went the liberal arts route.

My kid (high schooler) is interested in studying medicine and she'd like to work outside of the US. Her college counselor is discouraging this, vaguely saying it is "too hard." I'm sure the path would be very difficult, but I don't think it's simply impossible.

She's in a college prep program that is fairly hands off, so she's done things like partner with friends to teach themselves trig and work on chemistry while doing other graded coursework like precalc. She's a beast at self starting and committing, and not afraid to compete. She's a voracious reader and works on her writing too. So I'm not worried about her academically or motivationally--I don't think this is a misguided dream for her.

She's studied Swedish and is open to learning languages.

She's also interested in volunteering or interning to explore careers, or as a stepping stone into a good program of study. As a parent I would like her to see some of the reality of any career she's interested in. She has also been wondering if it's best to do an undergrad/premed overseas and keep rolling from there?

She is not set on any specialization yet, but wants to explore being some kind of surgeon or medical examiner.

If anybody has advice on this or experience being a US citizen and making a path to a permanent living situation and practicing medicine in another country, I'd love to hear about it. Thank you.
