NatureOne small bird has just flown13,560-kilometres non stop in 11days🐦

Truly astounding for a bird that only weighs about 300g (0.66lb). It had a small GPS satellite tracker. Little legend. 🐉

The five-month-old bar-tailed godwit smashed the record for long-distance migration following a non-stop, 11-day flight from Alaska to Tasmania.

The 13,560-kilometre journey beat the previous record — also held by a godwit — by around 500 kilometres and was documented by researchers across the world.

Birdlife Tasmania convenor Eric Woehler said the bird probably lost "half or more of its body weight" during "continuous day and night flight".

"If a godwit lands on water, it's dead. It doesn't have the webbing in its feet, it has no way of getting off the water."

"So if it falls into the water from exhaustion, if bad weather forces it onto the ocean surface, that's it."

Yeah, honestly at this point I'm not interested in any "political tribe" with men at all. Left-wing men and right-wing men only differ in the specifics of how they think women should be owned, and seem determined to out-do each other in demonstrating how vile and violent they can be any time they are told "no." I'm over it.

Once again, Dworken called it:

"Right wing men want women to be private property. Left wing men want women to be public property"

StrawberryCoughJune 28, 2024

Right wing men want to be the boss of women, and left wing men want to be the clients.

So true about that attitude of "getting round to women's rights after the important things". I was listening to The Rest is Politics podcast and Alistair Campbell was very irritable at the audacity of JK suggesting some women may not vote Labour because of their concerns about women's rights. Mind you, he hadn't had time to read about what JK said because guess what ladies he was far too busy, watching the football, which as we all know is far more important.

This is "Intersectionality" in a nutshell. "Intersectional feminism" means "women need to put female issues on the back burner so they can serve as Activism Nannies and emotional support animals to other groups who are deemed more oppressed than the vagina people"

PracticalMagicJune 29, 2024

That's not what intersectionality originally meant. It meant that some people's oppression was compounded by more than one thing. Specially, women who are black are oppressed not just as women, not just as black people, but specifically as black women.

I’m pretty sure Dave Chapelle said something exactly to this effect once. Something like, we’ll get to you women once we deal with the ACTUALLY important issue, racism. You know, the issue that affects men? Until then, pipe down, ladies, and get in line.

Fuck him.

Hey, you got any links you could share in the topic of your opinion? Or, if you got a minute, please expound.

I have never looked into Mr. Chapel, and am interested to learn more about his stance regarding women/feminism.

I just recall him catching heat for not apologizing to the T-cult.

Dave Chapelle is a total asshole misogynist. One of his sketches is just him going around harassing strange women about their breasts. Look up "New York Boobs". He's fucking sick.

Edit: I just remembered an interview once where he said he knew how women felt after having to carry a bunch of cash with him once on public transit. As if the fear of getting robbed is in any way equal to the fear of getting raped. I fucking hate him.

The unique bond between all women regardless of our personalities, backgrounds, sexualities, races, religion, etc etc. is something I love about being a woman. I can't even describe the feeling, it was best said "women get it. men don't. won't elaborate."

MyNameIsobelJune 29, 2024

Whenever I would get into arguments with my father about women's rights, he would say things like. "Women are so mean to each other. women are too competitive with one another" blah blah blah, as if males aren't 100 times worst in that regard. It's just another way to make women feel defeated.

I'm tempted to get a Xwitter account just to follow her tweets. She keeps hitting it out of the park!

And it's so true. Men on both sides of the political divide don't like it when women talk to each other and compare notes. The one silver lining to this gender madness is that its causing women to unite with other women that they otherwise would never speak to

That's why they lean so heavily on calling us 'right wing', or the right call us 'lefty/marxists'.

I see so many comments about how she is "deranged" and "obsessed with trans people's genitals" and so forth. Honestly if I were her I'd stop posting and just fund things. She's brave.

Why stop posting? Her posts are based

PracticalMagicJuly 1, 2024

I would if I were her purely due to all the hate. Like I said, she's brave. Braver than Mr.

Being told by erstwhile friends that my concern for women's safety made me part of a lunatic fringe has been an especially disappointing thing.
