General interestMusk is likely to be leaving the CEO position at Twitter.

(Ron Burgundy voice) "Well, that escalated quickly"

Apparently he was spotted in the skybox at the World Cup with Jared Kushner and a bunch of Qatari bigwigs. According to an "angel investor" named Leonidas Raisini, who claims to have been present for the conversation, his backers aren't pleased with the unpredictable twists and turns of his stint chairing the company, and have told him to stand down and find a less temperamental CEO.

Tesla board members have also started issuing rhetoric implying that a sort of Steve Jobs circa 1985 coup is in the works, unless he gets the auto company's spiraling stock value stabilized.

Musk has put up a poll tonight, surveying the user base as to whether he should leave and said that he will abide by its results. But if the chatter is correct, he has already made the decision (or had it made for him), and this is to add a veneer of "vox populi" over the already predetermined result. (Musk also basically said "be careful what you wish for"...)

Discussion is circling as to what happens afterward, with some raising the "B" word (bankruptcy), and goes into receivership or liquidates its assets in a kind of everything-must-go fire sale. Others are speculating that Twitter will still chug along as a "Musk property" in all but name, with someone in his circle (like maybe Thiel or Andreessen) as a less capricious figurehead. Worth noting nonetheless that Rupert Murdoch bought MySpace after Tom Anderson noped out; the URL still resolves, but it's pretty much a zombie shell of nothing. (Also, Tom Anderson himself apparently has a Twitter and replied to Musk's poll, in a curious collision that some might describe as.... "Meta"...)

Whatever happens, it was kind of fun to watch the censorious heads blow up, like the massive hypocrite and TRA handmaiden Taylor Lorenz of all people, who only started crying about cancel culture when she got the banhammer. We got to see how the sausage gets made and boy is it ever ugly (probably because of all the sausages that go into making it, like whoever that TIM was in charge of the "misgendering" rules, and Joel whatsisname with the "academic treatise" on Grindr groomers).

Personally, I think it would be nice if all these craptastic online pedo dens were to explode like an overheated Tesla.

Yep, too self-centered . . .

Ecology, sustainability, native plants and restoration seem like topics that would appeal to people whose values are diametrically opposed to those who ride the gender train....

You sound really awesome! I have a lot of the same interests.

What drives me crazy in spaces like that, is when 1 man will come in, see a room full of women, and think to himself "No one is in charge here". Then he gets all high and mighty and starts "suggesting" all sorts of things, then seems to get upset when everyone doesn't hop to!

Men will totally see such situations and try to swoop in and take credit for everything the women have achieved together. It has made me very sus of men wanting to come in and "help" at the last stage of a project!

Native plants and gardens are such a wonderful cause!! Do you mind if I DM you to talk to you more about it?

Absolutely!

Cat charities too. Too many men have ridiculous ideas that it’s unmanly to like cats. Dude, what’s unmanly is thinking your pets define your masculinity. This is why I hate the trend of gang bangers getting (and mistreating) dogs they think are ‘hard’. I’ve seen them wandering about, not even using a proper lead but a bulky chain for that extra ‘macho’ factor.

I hate it when people treat animals like accessories. Chihuahuas, pitbulls, and miniature breeds seem to get it the worst.

Men tend to hate cats because they're less trainable than dogs. They can't stand the idea of a creature they can't use and control.

I did something very similar. I love the field of child development and every area of the field (from direct services to research) is female dominated. I was in a year long paid leadership incubator that was 99% female both participants and faculty. At my jobs all my bosses and most of my coworkers and supervisors (99%) were other women. We made great money and didn’t have to deal with men. It’s Heaven.

I didn't know there were non-profits specifically for native plants.

hypatiaApril 14, 2021

There are! There are also usually gardening groups in your area of people who are experimenting with growing them/spreading the gospel!

[Deleted]April 14, 2021

There are quite a few, maybe not specifically for native but it ends up being functionally the same. If you look up your ecoregion and conservation efforts, you will likely find native plant guides, orgs, and non profits

normcoreApril 14, 2021

This is accurate in my experience! I volunteer at a social services-type nonprofit and 90% of everybody there is female with the remaining 10% being nice old retired dudes. There's def some performative wokeness among the staff (they've all got matching pronouns on their cards/nametags, LOL) but everybody else is super down to earth.

You may be on to something. As long as the non-profit does not center women and women's concerns, most men who self - identify as women are not going to be bothered. And, it may even be possible to center women's concerns obliquely in such settings. We're certainly not winning many battles when it comes to ensuring that woman-centered institutions remain women-centered - these are the focus of most gender ideology campaigners, and there they put up furious fights...with the backing of so-called human rights non-profits (ACLU, I'm looking at you!), illiberal "liberal" major media outlets, government agencies, and major corporations...not to mention Big Tech and social media platforms.

Also found this to be true in most yoga and dance classes, and nearly anything focused on deep inner psycho-spiritual work.

Ive been looking for an organization that deals solely in saving endangered plants. If you feel comfortable messaging me the name, id really love to get involved.
