Greetings and welcome to o/STEM
This is an “everything STEM” circle – science, technology, engineering, maths. This circle has fairly broad coverage for now. In the future some of these subjects may spin off into their own circle – it will depend on interest and number of posts.
.........................................................
We have flairs to sort the topics:
Astronomy
Archaeology
Ask an expert
Biology
Career Q and A
Chemistry
Computing
Earth science
Education
Engineering
Environment
Gadgets
General interest
History
Industry
Physics
Maths
Medicine
Nature
Neuroscience
Technology
Institutions
PLEASE try and write an informative title along with the flair (note, you need to make the post and then choose the flair)
AND add a comment if it's a link post or some text - it lets people know why you have posted, what might be of interest and helps discussion.
..................................................................................................
Links, images, videos, resources, discussion, questions – all welcome – on topic and appropriate to the intent of the circle.
.................................................................................................
NOTE: Medicine – any medical topic (including covid19) needs to be based on scientific principles, and primarily about the science, not the politics. This is also not the place for health/diet lifestyle/ alternative medicine/therapy or general psychology (hopefully these topics will have their own circle at some point if people are interested)
For all topics: no conspiracy theories, no quackery, no spamming.
Thank you, and enjoy !
[LAST EDIT OCT 24TH]
I saw it yesterday and agree 100%. You expressed my experience perfectly.
I wanted to watch it again immediately after.
I'm seeing it tomorrow. I can't wait! I remember in like 2008 they said the movie would come out in 2016 and it felt so far away to little me. Now it's almost 2025.
I was reluctant to see it because I felt like splitting it into two movies was a cynical cash grab. But I've changed my mind after seeing clips of the film/songs online. Grande and Erivo really are amazing in this movie. I doubt I'll see it in cinema (two hours with no intermission is too much for me LOL). But I'll totally buy it or watch it on streaming
So no trans characters to put up with?
Nope, all clear! However, there's slight homoerotic tension/a moment between Fiyero and one of Glinda's male friends (essentially, he's fawning after him in a comedic scene. It's honestly quite funny, lol).
Excellent!
Having younger children this is what I was wondering.
It might be the kind of magical experience millions of children in the 20th center remember with the Wizard of Oz. Now we have two "favorite movies" based on a classic feminist story, with great music.
