Why a girl? I get how the rest of it is just him wanting validation, but a girl specifically sets off rapist alarms all over.
And when that girl grows up into a teenager the man can never be, then what?

My best guess is that a girl would allow him to groom the idealized female that would also be an extension of himself. He's already trying to do that with his own body, but proxies are never as satisfying as the real thing. The narcissist parents already view children as offshoots to be used, and a girl child would cement control in his mind. He owns her all the way down to the genes and she can't abandon him.

Was this written by Chris Chan? He has had a fantasy for most of his life of having a daughter who he would call "Crystal".
He has wanted to have her with whichever girl or young woman he was obsessed with at any time, most notably the poor girl he was originally obsessed with who was the only one trying to be his friend and not trolling him.
He has also said both that he wants to be the father and that he wants to give birth to her himself.
And yes, everyone has always found the specificity of this creepy guy (and now confirmed sex offender) intending to have a daughter extremely creepy and suspect.
There is something about the name "Crystal" and all if various permutations that send up red flags for me. About 25 years ago, before I met my husband I had been looking into adopting a girl out of foster care because marriage didn't seem to be in my future, and I didn't want to go the sperm donor route.
It seemed like almost half the girls were named some variant of Crystal. Khristal, Krystyl, Cristel, etc., etc. The "creativity" in spelling was something else. I don't know if that name appeals to someone who is less mature, who wants to give a child an "aspirational" fantasy name, and may be more likely to end up having a child placed in foster care, but I am still fascinated by the phenomenon. One friend suggested that it may have been related to Cristal champagne being introduced to pop culture through reality TV shows and rap/hip hop music. And it cut across racial lines as well, although white girls were more likely to be named "Britney" which also had more variations of spellings than I knew were possible.
Crystal isn't bad, but I love cursed baby names

Re: cursed baby names: I know someone who's a nurse in a neonatal ICU, and she once told me that she's seen the names Hope, Faith and Miracle so many times that now if she sees them in the wild she just assumes it's a baby with a congenital heart defect. Kinda morbid but kinda hilarious.

This kinda lines up with the conservative belief that "children are a punishment".
To men, children are an inhuman prop that serves some external purpose in a way that fundamentally changes the life of some other person - usually the parent - usually the mother.
Except in this case the child is a reward. Some unlocked achievement in ones quest to be a woman.
