Advice neededRecommended technology for journaling
Posted August 16, 2023 by notsofreshfeeling in STEM

Hello STEM ladies,

Over a decade ago, I took up the practice of writing "morning pages" (inspired by the book, The Artist's Way), and found it to be a useful way of tapping into a more grounded sense of self and clarifying what I think and feel. But the process is messy, and I wouldn't necessarily want to leave these documents lying around for others to find. I currently keep my journals in a locked filing cabinet.

As an art project, I am considering cutting and pasting parts of these journals into another notebook, so that I don't fully destroy these artifacts from my life and can go back and have a more visceral experience than just looking on a computer. This will allow me to edit the pages down to something that's personal without being embarrassing. But this will take some time.

Until then, I would like to continue to handwrite morning pages, but am wondering what technologies might allow me to handwrite on paper while archiving digitally and storing securely. If you have ideas, let me know.

Also, if you similarly enjoy handwriting on paper but have tried digital notebooks, like reMarkable, please share your thoughts.

Thank you!

Edit: Also, is there a technology that allows you to snap a photo of a document that can convert handwriting to searchable text?
