Like many women, I suffer from PCOS, a common endocrine disorder in ‘reproductive age’ women (approx 6-12% but most are undiagnosed). Symptoms vary among women. I have excess androgens. I have no excess hair but I have irregular periods and acne. I have also been pregnant. You could not tell me apart from a woman who did not suffer from it. I have managed to somewhat stabilise my hormone levels with natural anti-androgens, but there is no cure. I do not see myself as anything else but a female. I am genetically 100% female. I just had an argument with a TIM claiming women with PCOS are intersex, and of course he insulted my intelligence (I have two medical science degrees but hey-ho) and told me science disagrees with me (it doesn’t). Women with PCOS were also used to prop up men playing in women’s sports - even the top end of testosterone for us would be well below that of any biological males. I am so fed up of my legitimate medical condition being used to prop up their absolutely insane ‘sex is a spectrum’ theory. Sex is based on gametes, not chromosomal or hormonal variations. Infact, I did not develop PCOS until my early 20s suggesting one can develop an intersex condition?
Just so fed up.
