Not sure this belongs here, but it's technically a technical question, so I'll give it a whirl:
I am on twitter and I see a tweet I want to like. I see the grey outline heart and the number of likes it's already accrued, say 15. I click the heart, and then the heart turns red and the counter spins up to 16...and then immediately returns to 15. The heart stays red, but my "like" doesn't appear to have increased the like count.
What is going on? I'm paranoid enough to think that Twitter is not counting likes on the (mostly GC) tweets I am trying to endorse. But I could also just be twittering wrong or have some stupid setting enabled. Ideas?
From a purely technical perspective, I’d guess that the platform underlying this kind of behavior is doing some kind of “Eventual Consistency” thing under the hood — but Twitter has demonstrated itself to be so willing to censor, so many times and to such an obscene degree, that I wouldn’t necessarily buy that there’s an innocent explanation for observations like this.
All the time. I have complained to Twitter a million times. They dont care.
BUT…
If you “like” it and the count doesn’t move, then click on the tweet and when that comes up, it adds your like to it.
So it’s counting it, but not showing it to you.
Thank you. I thought I was losing my mind.
