I highly, highly commend the people who take the time to tackle, point by point, what is obvious, sane, and common-sense to 99% of us. It is a travesty that this has to be done, but necessary.
This author (or authors) has torpedoed all TRA “arguments” in one handy place. Great work and thank you. An important link to be shared.
Wow, this is GREAT! Congrats to whoever put it together! I've just put another 124 names on SheWon, thanks to volunteers who are helping, and the numbers are growing by leaps and bounds.
Thank you for the work you're doing with SheWon! It is an immensely valuable resource to have.
Great resource. But this website is not a "Defense of Female Athletics" like it's billed. It's a Defense of Female Athletics for Teenagers and Adults only.
The author's entire focus is on "trans women" aka TIMs who are past male puberty of adolescence.
The author completely overlooks the need for female-only sports prior to the age when males go through puberty of adolescence.
The site says the author's premises are:
There's no mention of all the so-called "trans girls" who are also male and are playing, and dominating in, girls sports long before reaching the stage of life when they'd begin male puberty of adolescence. And all the TIMs in middle school, junior high and HS who are still dominating in girls' sports even though they've been on "puberty blockers" since age 10 or 11.
Jazz Jennings is a good example. Jazz never went through the aspects of male puberty of adolescence fueled by testosterone. So Jazz doesn't have what this author calls the "androgenization advantage." Yet Jazz still always dominated in all the girls' sports Jazz played starting as a pre-schooler. On several different occasions on Jazz's TV show, Jazz has bragged that he "was always the best player" on every girls' sports team Jazz ever played on starting when he was a very little boy.
The fact is, males outperform females in nearly all sports prior to male puberty of adolescence.
Yes, after males begin puberty of adolescence, they outperform females in all sports by HUGE margins that are glaringly obvious. But all youth sports records show that males also consistenly outperform females in nearly all sports and sports-related activities by significant, measurable and well-documented margins all their lives, beginning when they are still little boys who are many years away from starting male puberty of adolescence.
The author is also mistaken in attributing all the male performance advantage solely to the changes that males go through in and after adolescence due to the high levels of testosterone their testes produce then. And in using the term "androgenization advantage" as a synonym for the male performance advantages.
The fact is, many of the physical characteristics that males have that give them huge advantages over females in nearly all sports are the result of male genetics alone, or male genetics plus male androgen levels plus male androgen receptors. It's not just their male testosterone or androgen levels alone.
Moreover, the reason that males outperform females in nearly all sports can't all be attributed to the male physical features they have/develop and the male physical processes go through. Another reason males ouperform females in sports is that malesdo not have any of the physical features, nor do they go through any of the physical processes, that are distinct to female human beings which put females at a disadvantage in most sports. In other words, the advantage in sports that males enjoy isn't just from being male, it's from not being female.
The author also overlooks the fact that a main reason males outperform females in nearly every sport across all ages and life phases is that sports were originally designed by men exlcusively for people of their own sex. Sports were specifically invented and developed by men for the express purpose of giving male human beings the chance to try their hand, excel and show off their prowess in/at performing the precise types of physical feats that male human beings' bodies are most suited to and best at.
This is a great comment, and you've raised a lot of important points. However, the author is clear about the fact that the website is focused only on adult athletes. There is a disclaimer at the beginning that states:
"This essay deals with transgender women who have experienced normal male puberty. Individuals with DSDs and pre-pubescent athletes are not treated here."
exactly even their hips, femur, heart and lung size comparable to the body and spinal differences give them advantages.
essentially males were built to run
