A groundswell of pushback has started in Washington state against policies that allow boys who say they have a trans, nonbinary or other "diverse" gender identity to participate in girls' school sports if they wish.

Scientists are also becoming more attuned to the potential dangers women face in isolated field camps, where they may depend on senior men for food, water, and shelter.
