User registration page with security recommendations?
Posted July 30, 2020 by bye_kevin in Suggestions

Since this website is going to be the target of a lot of tech savvy narcissistic rage, I think it would be good to add impossible to miss suggestions to the user registration page that urges users to NOT pick usernames or passwords they have used anywhere else or an email address that could be linked to their real identity in any way. These are things that might be obvious for some, but not others.

Great suggestion!

Would also add: use a non-tracking privacy-oriented browser like DuckDuckGo or Tor

No two-factor authentication for ProtonMail-account-linked sites (no phone numbers used if at all possible)

Avoid social media apps (browser login only)

If using an iPhone, disable Location Services and undo all the app/feature interconnections you can

Also good for GC/RadFem activity:

Forgot to add: Make sure any photos you load are stripped of EXIF data -- info here: https://www.howtogeek.com/203592/what-is-exif-data-and-how-to-remove-it/

Also, an intermediate-level open source project for setting up and running your own VPN (though you'll need a cloud service): https://github.com/StreisandEffect/streisand
