Ability to make posts viewable only to members
I think having the ability to make posts viewable only to members of Ovarit would be great. Having a box you check if you want a post to be private. So people who come here to check on us can't have as easy access to certain posts that might contain more sensitive information. (Instead of people having to say DM me for more info)
Yes!!! Especially posts where we talk about our trauma/sexual assault.
I would like this too. I refuse to talk about certain topics here because of prying male eyes.
Would this create a false sense of security?
Would trolls make accounts and take special delight in publicizing these posts? It's not a difficult burden.
Not saying it's a bad idea. But I'm worried about people making bad decisions because they don't really know how easy it is to get around something like this.
I think the best way would be to make them restricted to levels.
Trolls level up their accounts. It makes it harder but not so much for our pests to be deterred by.
I worry about the false sense of security issue too.
How did the mods filter who they allowed into the discord? I was not a discord user for anything else so I fell away after a while.
The Discord vetting is laborious and takes serious time. That's not something we're doing for this site. Anyone can join the site. The invite codes gave people a false impression that the userbase is "safe" even though we tried to dispel that notion.
Some male trolls might somehow get invite codes and come here, but at least it would be a protective barrier against people (males) who aren’t members. The latter outnumber any trolls who might be present. And reddit is stalking us anyway.
Example: a woman makes a post about her rape and makes it private. It’s only visible to 1-2 theoretical male trolls, instead of hundreds. Ya know?

I actually think we probably will add this feature eventually, if nothing else it would prevent most cache and archive sites/bots from saving the page forever.
But I want to give people an opportunity to solve the complications, so I bring them up.
Great suggestion. This would have been handy when i made the women only gaming discord. Everyone has to pm me for an invite code .
I think it would dissuade lazier trolls, and serious trolls are going to get in regardless.
Love this idea. Especially considering we are always a target for doxxing.
