I started watching a few episodes of Resident Alien. It's a silly show but what I found so frustrating was the depiction of BDSM and a comment about western beauty standards.
One of the couples is shown to start engaging in BDSM. Of course, the wife is tied up, gagged, etc. This is shown as cool, edgy, and empowering.
Another scene depicts a young girl (pre-teen and already wearing a hijab) critiquing the practice of shaving as a western patriarchal standard. However, this ignores patriarchy on a global scale. Western culture is not the only example of oppressive misogyny.
The writers of the show clearly think they are progressive and feminist (they address the pay gap in a very superficial way). It's so frustrating that even shows like this, that are supposed to be lighthearted and a form of true escapism, cater to the popularization and normalization of BDSM and shallow libfem analysis.
I don't know how to get it to rotate so it's upright, sorry!

She says thank you! She is definitely Boss Cat. Her younger siblings are bigger and sometimes try it on, but all she has to do is look at them and they back off going, "okay! All good here!"
She has a lovely outgoing nature but plenty of attitude. If I am not patting her enough, she will delicately lift my hand with her paw then nip my fingers to make me pay attention!
