Recommending Bobs Burgers S13E22: Amelia
I wanted to recommend this episode, the season 13 finale. The episode is about 4th grader Louise working on a “My Hero” project about Amelia Earhart. She becomes discouraged about the project after she finds out that Amelia died during her round-the-world flight. She also wants to do well on the project to prove the know-it-all boy in her class wrong. The episode takes place on Mother’s Day and Linda, Louise’s mom, sacrifices her Mother’s Day pampering to help Louise finish her project.
LINDA: I was thinking about Amelia Earhart’s mother, since it’s Mother’s Day. You know what I bet she never said to her daughter?
LOUISE: What?
LINDA: Act like a lady.
LOUISE: Gross
LINDA: I know, but back when she was a kid women weren’t doing things men did like flying planes and wearing pants.
LOUISE: I bet she never said “Ooo girls can do anything boys can do,” cause you know sometimes when they say that it -
LINDA: It ends up sounding like the opposite?
LOUISE: Yeah.
My favorite quote was a little later during her class presentation.
LOUISE: And sometimes, yeah, people with louder, deeper voices get heard more, and that’s really annoying, but that doesn’t make me want to make my voice lower and deeper, it just makes me mad.
