This was maybe 3 minutes tops out of 3 episodes in and actually a funny decent romcom / murder mystery kdrama (so far, I'm on Ep4), but still. Posting cos it irked me anyway. Unmarked spoilers ahead obviously

Premise: Veterinarian female lead is struck by a meteor, it gives her superpowers to see into a living being's memories. But only if she touches their butt (because she was doing a check up on a cow when it hit her). She eventually finds out these powers allows her to use animals as CCTVs, and eventually even humans. Hilarious Hijinks™ ensue only because this is a female lead groping males non-consentually and and not a male lead feeling up women for the horny lolz

The trans bs: Episode 3 involves female mc accidentally touching a dude's butt, who turns out to be a male server who's about to hook up with her bff. She sees a vision that shows the bottom half of a supposed woman in lingerie dancing around. Female MC tries to warn her friend that the guy she's hooking up with is likely seeing another girl, and if she doesn't believe it, to go to his house to check. BFF barges into the house and finds... not another girl, but her boyfriend in a wig, makeup, and a dress. He confesses to her that he was only planning to tell her after they got together and when he was a little more confident. In episode 4, BFF accepts it, but decides not to date him anymore, remaining as friends.

The good:

• in the english subtitles and korean original language, in the maybe twenty lines of dialogue exchanged, it's made very clear that no one thinks, let alone believes, that he's actually a woman, and is just a sympathetic cross dressing guy.
• BFF continues to refer to him as "oppa" (big brother) throughout both before, during, and after she catches him in the act.
• The TIM takes off his wig to confess. (Yes, low highlight. The dress and makeup stayed on)

The bad:

• TIM pulls the classic bs about wig + spinny dress + makeup = woman. (shown, no dialogue on this)
• standard emotional manipulation lines are thrown: "tHiS iS tHe rEaL mE" + "I wAs AfRaiD yOu woULd LeaVe mE"
• TIM does basic bs about wanting to trap a woman in a relationship before he "comes out" aFtEr hE's BraVeR.
• BFF has a line going, "this doesn't make me less of a woman" when she finds out this is the dude she was attracted to. (which might be an unintentional OOF for the TIM lol)
• She gives him fucking lipstick tips before she leaves.
• English subtitles switched to gender neutral pronouns and present/past midway during the reveal, so it says something like (from BFF to FMC), "You're both right and wrong. There's a girl, okay? It was my boyfriend. They wish they'd been born a girl. We talked it out. We're friends for now." Idk enough korean to know if male pronouns were continously used in audio or if this was western localization team being good little woke handmaidens
• we're supposed to feel sympathetic for this character? The music throughout is serious and heart stirring in both segments, and the TIM is presented as a scared and vulnerable twansgurl uwu despite being a boring standard middle aged guy

Pros: it's a throwaway side character in an irrelevant mini side story and I hope and doubt he will appear again. And "they wish they'd been born an X" is probably the truest line I've seen to describe trans people that isn't a gaslighting lie...

Cons: ...except make the plural actually refer to multiple people, and not a fucking singular obvious male. I don't actually watch enough kdrama to know, but idk what this bodes for their scene if positive trans stuff is starting to get subtly injected into their media too.

Episodes 1-3 were mostly about animal CCTVs and accidental-intentional butt gropes to gain clues to progress the plot. In episode 4 it seems they ramped it up to have her explore her powers by first consentually touching and fondling her BFF's butt to grasp her extent of them annnnnd I might nope out if it continues keeping in this direction. Or maybe I'm a fucking prude now
