When my husband and I had COVID last year, I insisted we get Peacock for a month so I could watch the several series of Escape to the the Château I’d missed. But then we stumbled upon this and we were obsessed. It’s just wonderful.
Shortly thereafter, we watched a little movie from about a decade ago, We Are the Best. I mention it because it’s thematically linked — a Swedish movie about some teenage girls starting a punk band, set in the 80s. (Based on the life of the director’s wife, who wrote a comic about it.) I highly recommend it.
Linda, Linda, Linda is also in a similar vein to We Are The Best, if I remember well
Lovely, thanks for the rec, I'll check that one out. I have a soft spot in my heart for good stories about misfit girls ;)
Oh My God! If you haven't seen it, go watch right now.
Lady Parts is fabulous. I think I've been through all the episodes at least three times and have all the songs on my phone. Is there a new season?
The writer/director/creatrix also made a movie: Polite Society. That's good too if you can find it on line.
Nida Manzoor is a woman to watch.
I'm so glad you love it too! I had the songs stuck in my head for ages. I truly hope there is a season 2 but I haven't seen anything about it yet
