I don't think its productive to blame actors for shit they didn't write (especially when we're talking about 20+ year old TV shows). But I guess good on him for bringing this up when he didn't have to (he was very young when he was in Saved By The Bell, so nobody can really blame him for it)

Yep, SBTB was about 35 years ago (or close to it, I believe the series started in 1988 and ended in 1993) and IA, the entire cast were literal children when they worked on the show. "The Lisa Card" episode was from 1989 so I presume they were 14/15 when it was filmed. You gotta love the sexual deviancy in Hollywood.

I don't think MPG's to blame at all, but I can understand why he feels uneasy about it now.

I am too old to have watched MPG in "Saved By The Bell," but I thought he was great in "NYPD Blue."

Oh, man. I might have to binge watch some saved by the bell this weekend. It is nice to see actors reflecting on past projects and things they were involved in that haven’t aged well. I wonder how he feels about Screech’s nonstop harassment of Lisa? Or his own treatment of Screech. But then again Zach Morris’s character was meant to be sort of a jerk who learns lessons on how to not be such a jerk.

Me too. It seems that the "unrequited crush won't take no for an answer and I will pester them until they give in" trope was such a thing in retro sitcoms that many shows/actors will have to answer for that (including Friends, The Parkers, Family Matters, etc).

I hate that Family Matters ended with Steve marrying Laura. That show is soooo uncomfortable upon re-watch (especially after Jaleel White goes through puberty and is towering over everyone else)

It got better when they introduced Myra as Steve's love interest and he left Laura alone. But that ended when Myra's actress got diagnosed with cancer and left the show (i was heartbroken when i heard she died. She was so funny)

I can think of a few of the kids shows my kids used watch not too long ago that had this trope (Jesse and iCarly come to mind), although sometimes it was genderswapped for equality I guess.

Hmm, I don’t remember that episode. The boys were just grabbing her and forcefully kissing her??
