Not so much a review than a rave because... I thought the show was really great and I don't want to spoil it.

It's a Live Action + CGI Fantasy Family heartwarming Drama, with a tinge of violent horror, but not really because all the violence happens only on toys so it's technically PG, but oh god the violence.

The story revolves around Billy, a young boy, and his adventures with Ollie, his stuffed rabbit. When Ollie suddenly finds himself separated from his kid, with amnesia, it's on him to put the missing pieces of his memory back together to get back to his kid.

My expectations of the movie from the poster and preview: "Oh, it's Toy Story 1 but if shit got real lol"

The actual movie: "It's Toy Story 3+4 but if shit got really real, holy fuck, wtf"

It's only 4 episodes long and I highly reccomend it for the following:

Pros:

• the Mom character. Oh my god I love the Mom character, so much. She's so fucking wonderful and amazing and realistic and strong not girl boss femme fatale strong but actual strong and watching this you just fucking want to know a woman like her. She's so great at diffusing tension between the useless husband and her bubbly adopted son, she keeps a strong face on throughout all the shit that happens to her, she's so creative and playful and holy fuck I've never had such a strong crush on a female lead before I legit wished I was dating this woman?! Instead of her useless sack of shit srs bzn husband?? SHE DESERVES ALL THE FUCKING HUGS
• Ollie is actually a pretty sweet main character, and quite believable and empathizable (as a main character should be!). He has a couple of Hurt the Cutie wham moments in the last two episodes and an insanely touching one with the mom and with Billy at the end
• HUGE HUGE PLOT SPOILER DO NOT CLICK IF YOU WANT TO STAY UNSPOILED THE REVEAL THAT THE SIDE CHARACTER GIRL WE SEE IN EPISODE ONE IS ACTUALLY BILLY'S DAUGHTER AT THE VERY END AHHHHHH FUCK ME I WAS SO HAPPY I COMPLETELY LEGIT FORGOT SHE WAS A CHARACTER
• Dad character (predictably) has his redeeming moment, but still. I was so sure he was gonna veer into Asshole Father territory, especially with how most of the other male characters were written

Pros in terms of plot and writing but cons in terms of men being men lol. Huge spoilers for plot twist below:

• almost all the men in this show, honestly, except for Billy, who is unfortunately a fictional male whose character seems too good to be true especially as an adult 🥲 everyone male is just straight up an asshole and a jerk. Notable mentions go to Dad, School Bully, and Zozo, although justified since, antagonsists. God you can really hate these characters
• Fucking Zozo. Jesus christ he's a fucking psychopath. Think Sid and Inspector AND Lotso all crushed into a single villain, plus The Tin Soldier bs heaped on top of it. Even when he finally died it didn't feel fucking justified after all the horrendous shit he did. This fuck should have fucking suffered
• said psychopath starts out kind and caring and then slowly goes crazy and deranged from being unable to find his One True Love that he met for a whole of two fucking minutes.The incel vibes are honestly kinda creepy like bro. You literally just met her. She danced with you ONE time, maybe out of pity or curiousity or whatever the fuck. And you go insane trying to find her, you write love letters in your head about your one sided love for her, you couldn't forget about her for years, you beat up and dismembered other toys to get information on her, you almost killed Ollie because you wanted her heart from inside him. What the actual fuck is wrong with Zozo. and when his backstory plays, you're supposed to feel sympathetic for him?! He's a creepy ass fucker and not just because he's a clown.
• throw in the whole sidestory about how he basically made Rosy feel indebted to him for saving her life and then turning her into his weird personal henchman / fwb if toys have those?! / emotional support convenience dispenser. Their whole relationship was honestly very fucked up and the constant will they won't they vibes, Rosy having her own one-sided thing for him, him absolutely not giving any shits and turning abusive and horridly violent towards her at the end. I KNOW THEY'RE TOYS, BUT IT'S SO FUCKED UP HOW THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAS PORTRAYED.
• I cannot fucking get over what an absolute psychopath Zozo is and the southern accent + clown + old-timey 80s carnival toy vibe shit really doesn't help. In a way, he's an amazing and believable character, but holy god does he makes me skin crawwwwwwl
• they show at least three instances of him actively dismembering other toys. It's sickeningly cold and violent and just... udurhgrgrgrhrgh
• they keep.... portraying him as someone to be empathetic towards because he's suffered a tErRiBLe LoSs (YOU KNEW HER FOR TWO FUCKING MINUTES YOU CREEP)???! Like they show him grieving and being so depressed that he basically unalives himself for however many years it was until Ollie came into the store, they show him hurting and crying when he finally gets confirmation that Nina is dead. And I'm just sitting here like???? I don't?? Give a shit?!?! About this goddamn psychopath incel who decides murdering and disembowelling a random innocent who was only trying to help was a rational course of action?? AND GRIEF ISN'T AN EXCUSE FOR BEING A COMPLETE MONSTER???
• Rosy's involvement watching him brutally murder the first toy and then showing her crying herself to sleep in shock and fear because she's just realized that could be her someday, fuck me. And then she goes after him anyway and the self-trapping in an abusive dependent relationship thing hit a little too hard here and was extremely uncomfortable
• Nina was perhaps the most shallow character in what was otherwise very dimensional character writing. Her entire purpose is to be The Pretty Love At First Sight Interest and that's it. A bit disappointing. Like why tf did she even give Zozo the time of day to begin with, why did she engage him and even leave him a momento, and then her entire role is just to die so she could have her heart inside Ollie to drive the entire plot??? Sigh it's... better watching through but on hindsight it's really the one of the more shallow parts
• grown ass adult men do nothing but watch and laugh as two younger boys fence with billiard sticks. And then do more nothing when they roughhouse and one causes bodily harm to another (granted it was the victim standing up to the bully, so justified, but still.) Tf are the adults doing
• I'm not done ranting about how much I hate Zozo this fucker disappears during ep3 and you more or less know he's going to make a comeback later because he's he fucking main antagonist and we haven't seen him die on screen yet. But jesus it's just. What, he just magically shows up exactly where he needs to be. Just magically. And his death was so fucking lame and anti-climatic in comparision cos oh my god Rosy shows up too!! Holy fuck what an ex deus machina!! And then they both fucking.... die together and get washed away like some romantic romeo and juliet shit?! I don't

If anyone else has seen it please scream about it with me, maybe I'm reading too much into it but the Zozo character and his relationship with Rosy seriously have darker implications and I can't shake it off
