Well I am rewatching The Tudors and not only do they have a sex scene before even 10 minutes in (because of course), and they have a second sex scene, less explicit, where the king takes one of the ladies in waiting because his wife Queen Catherine is not present. In the following scene King Henry says, "Do you consent?"
OK first of all, there's zero chance he would have considered a woman's consent.
Second, there's zero chance a woman in that situation, with the most dangerous man in the country, would have said, "No."
This insertion of the consent line is to make men feel better about the fact that this man raped numerous women who had no agency to decline him.
Another gripe: they chose a woman who looks old enough to be his auntie to play Catherine, the too-old-queen (I like this actress, it isn't a dig on her at all).
IRL Henry BEGGED to marry her and even went to the pope for permission. That's why he couldn't divorce later, because the new pope refused to extinguish something the last pope granted permission for.
She was 5, FIVE, years older than him. She was 24 and he was 19 when they married. She wasn't some middle-aged cougar. But the producers decided to make her look extremely old in comparison, so we would feel sorry for the king with his wife going through 'the change'. The truth is there would have likely been no discernible difference in appearance age-wise.

Ha! I feel like this TRA effort to boycott has always been a tempest in a teapot. Everyone is talking about and hyped for this game, it’s a top seller on every platform. Indeed both my husband and I preordered the deluxe edition twice (I’m PC, he’s console), and I almost never preorder games.
might be a bit of dissonance for them when they realize no one actually cares about them enough to refuse to buy a well-reviewed game.
It makes sense that they’d feel drunk on their own power because they get people sacked and cancelled. I bet they really thought they could get everyone to obey them. But you can’t stop people from buying a game. These people are so nuts that I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them call for a way to find out who bought the game to go after them (especially if they suspect those in their own communities).
It’s been funny to watch the guilt tripping from TRAs get more desperate and extreme as they realised that people were going to buy the game anyway.
Some TRAs are posting long, weepy threads about the game several times a day in the hopes of dissuading people but it just keeps selling more preorder copies.

Their own people are arguing that they’re not transphobic for buying the game 🤣 I would say it’s because they can’t produce any evidence JK Rowling actually tweeted anything transphobic, but she could be blatantly “transphobic” and people would still defend their reasons for purchasing it anyway.
Nobody giving a shit when you tell them not to buy media from a problematic brand that hurts you? Welcome to being a woman 🤷♀️

Preordered it as well. Some dude tried to lecture me about it because "JKR is a transphobe", I was like "man, I already preordered, you don't have to sell it to me anymore!"

Outside of reddit and twitter, most people do not care about TiMs and their precious feelings. They just lay low around TRAs and live their life as they want, and play the games they like.
Even on Reddit and Twitter, people don't support the gender woo. There just happen to be enough TRAs in tech to delete and ban or threaten people into silence on those sites. It's very skewed. I would love to see the look on TRA's faces if Reddit and Twitter allowed people to post their actual thoughts. TRAs would get buried.
You can see it peeking through on some of the subreddits that fly under the TRA’s radar. Most people don’t buy into their fiction.
The TRA temper tantrums over this have caused a huge Streisand effect. I didn’t even know about this game until they started screaming ab dabs on Reddit.
I've never been a fan of Harry Potter, but congrats to the fans who are getting a great game. And Doris from Shrek 2 even makes a cameo. Everyone wins!
I was honestly expecting this game to be kind of crap, not because of any of the kerfluffle about it but just because it seems to be a pattern lately that big IPs encourage studios to coast and not bother with good game design.
Kind of fun to see that it's not just a best seller but also may be a Game of the Year contender. A+ boycott. :P

Waiting to see how they end up spinning this to actually be a good thing for them, something something, brave TRA developers 'reclaiming' Harry Potter from the evil JK Rowling...
Have to remember, this is the same crew that regularly pretends Hermione wrote the books, or that true believer bookbinder who is dedicated to removing her name from her own books and reselling them for hundreds of dollars (to TRAs willing to spend that kind of money on them for the sake of maintaining their comfortable delusions).
Psh. So much for TRAs screeching about the awful "anti-Semitism" and "transphobia" that's allegedly present in the game. Guys, people aren't listening to you. They're just out to have a good time playing a fun game.

I'm also SO HAPPY because you know TRAs on Twitter are gonna explode with rage because of it. I've seen threads from some of them nitpicking little things about the game, like the menu looking a bit like another game, and circlejerking how trash the game will be
Meanwhile it's the top selling game on all platforms weeks before release, and is getting 9/10s.

IGN gave it a great review but of course, felt the need to issue a disclaimer about JK. Most of the commenters on the article were not having that.

Okay small joke haha! But seriously I'm torn between still preordering now and get my mount or wait for the switch so i can play with my friends who only have switch (i know there's no coplayer mode but discovering together is fun). Tough choice!
I mean the difference is like months between releases. Plus with preorder you also get more add ons in game that will eventually trickly down to switch but after maybe a year or two. would def recommend console

I think this game’s success before it’s even released can be a bit of a testament to the fact that most people are normies and couldn’t give a shit about the TRAntrums, or are against the ideology. I’ve seen plenty of boycotts fail to make a difference, but I think this is the first that was so viciously pushed and the game is already a best seller before launch.
And oh boy did they really go insane over on reddit over this game, it was a sight to behold.
