SpoilerDoctor Who 60th anniversary special - The Star Beast

I've been a Doctor Who fan since I was a teenager, but I haven't watched a new episode since Jodie Whittaker's first season since I love classic Who more. I decided to watch the anniversary special because they're usually a bit of fun, bringing back former characters and Doctors. Unfortunately I didn't realise this episode featured a TIM front and centre and was very heavy on pro trans pandering. It was pretty terrible, and I only kept watching because I was with my mum.

The TARDIS lands in London, and we discover that Donna is happily married and has a "daughter" named Rose. It's very obvious that this daughter is actually a son, and this fact is brought up a few times. Firstly we hear some peers making fun of him (not 100% sure what they were saying, because I was a bit distracted) and Donna tells him to ignore them. He discovers the Meep and hides it in his shed, and there's a conversation where he moves about being different. Next we find Donna's mum questioning whether she should have called him gorgeous when she never did before, and Donna talks to her about pronouns. Later, the Meep is discovered and Rose admonishes the Doctor for assuming it's pronouns for which he apologies immediately and asks what they are. The Meep turns out to be the baddie (I'm reminded of an Adventure Time episode with Martin and a similar small cute white creature), and points out that Rose is "that weird child". Donna goes mumma bear because how dare someone say that about her "daughter". So in the end Rose saves the day because Donna's Time Lord energy was partly transferred to him when he was born. Obvious eye roll moment when it's revealed because as Donna is chanting "binary" Rose says "non-binary". After they choose to let all the Time Lord energy go, Rose then says that now he finally feels like himself, as if he was always meant to be a """woman""". Donna ends up in the TARDIS again to go and see Wilf, but things go wrong and the episode ends, thank fuck Rose didn't get in too.

Absolutely awful episode. I know that a lot of fans hated Moffat and loved RTD, but I prefer Moffat's era infinitely to tripe RTD put out. I'll watch the others because I agreed to, but I definitely won't be watching the new series.
