So I have been watching Dead Loch and enjoying it. Mind you, I am not finished yet.
I watched the episode where Eddie faints at the press conference. To stall them, she gets Sven to babble about gender and trot out all the cliches, which he had done earlier with the two women.
- it is all just dumb woke speak cliches that they are clearly eye rolling at and exhausted by.
- these trite, glib groupthink slogans are parroted by the dumbest, most ineffectual of anyone they work with, even worse that asshat James, who at least gets some info right (I really hate how he is written. Tbt, the writing needs work. The Kates are not great at building believable characters, but I love that there names are basically "Mc..Lennon and McCartney).
- The show dismisses all the male characters and shows that what they say is basically sexist garbage, from Mike, the AGP, to the 'nice' but pathetic gay guy, Sven, who has not a brain in his head.
- After that annoying spiel, which no one is interested in hearing, they discover the evidence; that the pube is "XX". So SEX wins out. SEX is the key to the case. XX is the FACT that leads them to find actual answers in a town where obvious misogyny is the real problem (i am guessing there will be revelations about rape at some point).
So the series says, blah blah about gender all you want, XX is fact, is science, is truth.
