As the title says, what shows did you check out of and why?

Could be for random reasons but also interested to know which ones were because of gratuitous violence against women(includes sexual violence) or just general weirdness with how women are treated in the show. Like does the narrative respect women? Do the showrunners? The writing? Or could she be replaced by a lamp. :/

There's many shows which are lauded by the viewer base but sometimes all it takes is one scene to ruin it for me. A showrunner that has no respect for women is obvious, and it doesn't matter how good the rest of the show is, I just can't ever forget.

One such show is Black Sails, the public rape scene, with the female character even pushing away help so she could "prove" something was beyond me. Truly some sick reasoning, idc what demented plot purpose you think it serves.

Supernatural is another, for a more benign reason. Just too long, boring as hell after a while, also women dying all the time for these dudes to cry for two seconds about wasn't it either. Also also, why did they always have to have scenes with the actresses in underwear? Not even sex scenes, as they kept those pretty tame, just in underwear for male audiences to gawk at tbh. The gay baiting was also pretty annoying too, for all the complaints about it from them( they even made an episode later on making fun of fandom and shippers) they would put scenes deliberately made to stir the fandom up. I feel like shows like this want to be loved by men and boys and get really mad when it's primarily a female audience that's watching. I know BBCs Sherlock was super pissed about this.(Reminds me of toy companies feeling the same. They'd rather piss on female viewers and customers and discontinue things rather then get money, pure misogyny to your own detriment.)

Another is Vampire Diaries, really checked out season 2 tbh, but I did go back and watch scenes of mostly The originals, they made the show interesting but getting outsmarted by teenagers definitely have them a cartoonish vibe lol. That's CW for you though. Now to my problems, I hate Stefan, I hate Damon, fuck thing one and two. Preyed on a young girl, ruined her damn life and would play emotional games with her the entire show( why does she literal teenager need to comfort YOUR psychopathic murdering guilt tripping ass??? Get a job! Leave her alone!). She was literally a child and a vulnerable one at that, the writing for her may have been annoying but they could never make me hate Elena. Literal grooming, torture, statutory rape and a bunch of other shit this actual kid went through. Ain't not way.

Damon, the literal demon, can't think of a bigger piece of shit rn, I don't care what they think of Ian Somerhalder "hotness" fuck that rapist pig. And his man child ways that always ruined every plan they had, dear god he was the source of so many problems imo. And yet everyone bent over backwards to justify his shitty actions. And Bonny is actually the best so fuck them for treating her like shit in show and the actress behind the scenes. Some real trashy people running that show.

I'll add more as I think of them lol, I don't watch as many shows as I used to tbh and I'm super picky with what I do watch now. Why waste your time getting pissed when you could just not.

Pedestrian crossings are pieces of safety equipment. Any damage to safety equipment would be highly illegal. The fact that local councils are themselves deliberately defacing this same piece of safety equipment via painting them so as to make them ambiguous and unsafe has been pointed out as a problem, but they seem to be getting away with their vandalism. They have even been saying accidental tyre marks on these crossings are a transphobic hate crime, so I imagine they would class chalk slogans as hate crime too.

If tyre marks on a road surface are hate crimes then they better put red velvet ropes around them to stop people walking on them, walking on things is what you do to things you hate, trampling the flag.

bunch of Nazis

Blind people who complained that their guide dogs did not recognise these rainbow crossings were also called transphobic. Old people with dementia who were confused by the crossings were similarly branded as bigots.

there is one I came across about a mile or so away, I had no idea it was there I was very confused myself if it was actually a crossing for people and decided not to use it and carried on walking until I got to a real crossing.
