So the last episode, Captain Lohar...
I'm really annoyed about this, because they had a really cool chance to further the talk about gender roles and how they entrap people. Instead they do this weird thing where the woman who could have just been a rad tom girl/gender non conforming girl is... a TiM playing a TiF? Sort of maybe? or a TiM? Who is gay... bi? Straight?
The character is obviously meant to look like a woman. It's a rug pull moment for Tyland. But it's very weird, because in the show they call Lohar a he, indicating the woman is TiF. But the actors call her a she, including the TiM playing her. So is the character a TiM or a TiF? Who's using the 'preferred' pronouns, the pirates in the show or the actors?
The character asks Tyland (the random dude she/he/whatever just met) to fuck their wives to knock them up (which is gross in an entirely different way). Is that because they're a gay woman? Or because he's really sticking to the 'I'm a Lady!' stich?
It's a big cluster of what the fuck and entirely unnecessary.
Just give us a cool bad ass woman being unapologetically herself like you've been talking about all the show.
The forbidden is a turn-on for a lot of people, and nazis are the ultimate evil in western society, thus the ultimate forbidden.
Makes me curious if this can be flipped on its head, and if people drawn to nazism and fascism as power and ruling structures are also getting some sexual thrill out of it, whether they'd admit it or not.
Some no doubt are. One of the most notorious Nazi propagandists, Julius Streicher, was a well-known sadist who was almost always seen with a bullwhip, and the newspaper he published, Der Stürmer, often featured pornographic anti-Semitic material.
Gross. I can hardly stand anyone kink-identified any more. It's starting to piss me off more than trans, maybe because it seems more widespread and normalized. I think it's as simple as people understanding intuitively that sadomasochism is wrong and cruel to oneself and others, therefore they naturally associate it with something else that was deeply wrong and cruel. Everything stemming from sadism (or everything to do with masochism as well) can be linked together, and I believe this is why fetishes are famously comorbid psychologically.
