Glamourises prostitution. Child prostitution.

Romanticises an abusive male and at one point the narrator questions whether it was his former gf who he literally strangled bringing out the worst in him unlike his ever obedient and docile new gf who he can be vulnerable with...leading girls to believe being abused could be their fault and that they can "change him 😍" by being the perfect woman.

TIM character is in a "lesbian" relationship. TIM in question is a massive pervert in real life, claims he knew he was a woman because the thought of being raped appealed to him so much. Typical of autogynephiles. But in the show he's a delicate sweet little flower just like any other teen girl.

The whole show is shot beautifully. The acting is fantastic. The story is riveting. It's extremely inticing. It's a bout highschoolers and as a result...is very appealing to young teens though it's "intended for an adult audience".

I think people are extremely dishonest when discussing this show. When somebody questions why these supposed teens need to have their tits out every two seconds it's "because teens have sex!!! Get real!!!". When the drug abuse is criticised (which always seems to be shown as tragically beautiful and a means of makjg relationships) it's "Because this goes on in real life!!!". When the abusive Nate character and his relationship with the girls is criticised it's "That's what abusive relationships are really like!!!". All of these responses are true. However, it does not account for the fetishistic way this is all presented. People can say it shows the bad dsides of these things but again, it's shown as tragically beautiful and there's a few million teens on tik tok who prove that. How come this show is inspiring teens to sympathise with a man who abuses women, fantasise about being prostituted and glmaourise drug abuse but a show like say...Breaking Bad, equally as explicit +regarding the drugs), manages to do the exact opposite?

I think this show is fetishizing tragedy. It's like Skins except a million times less shit.

What do you think?

Edit: Also no surprise it's a MALE director.
