To summarize: TV execs wanted to reboot The Brady Bunch, with Jan having a trans child. Susan's character Cindy was planned to be a right-wing podcaster (which Susan is) but her moderate conservative views like understanding biological sex and questioning the effectiveness of the Covid vaccine were found to be too controversial.
Producers rejected Susan's idea to show both sides of the trans debate on the show, and instead suggested making Cindy a homophobic bigot who could be educated to be tolerant of gay people. Susan, who supports gay rights and supported her former TV dad Robert Reed (who was gay), rejected the idea and the plans to reboot the show soon fell apart.
To be fair, Susan has faced controversy before. In 2016 a gay male actor called for her to be fired from her radio show, accusing her of being a liar and spreading misinformation. She very stupidly responded by sending him an angry private message containing slurs like pussy and faggot, which he then made public in order to successfully get her fired (as she deserved, for doing something like that).
