My husband and I watched and enjoyed the first season of this show. We're fans of Alan Tudyk and have come to enjoy all of the cast. (Linda Hamilton! It's so refreshing to see a woman who is not getting all the cosmetic surgery, gotta say.)

Anyway, I guess I have to spoil what has bothered me in the second season. So, if people don't want to get a minor (so far) plot point, GO AWAY. Heh.

After beating the sketchy secret fed agency people, the mayor and his wife are super-horny. Which is fine. But this season they've taken that to being kinky and there was a whole montage of kinky elements in their sex life and even one including attending to their kid and they're still kinda costumed.

And then my LEAST favorite was the mayor asking the alien, ostensibly a doctor, "How long can someone get choked in a safe medical manner?" This just disgusted me. Why is this in a sci-fi show? They can just really, really wanna sex each other up without it having to go to some kinky behavior.

Thank you for this post! I watched this episode today and it rubbed me the wrong way too. I just hope they won't go down this road and that it was a one-time thing

Maybe they are trying to be edgy. With more and streaming services being created, there is a need for material already existing ( favorite show Evil went to streaming service) to getting production companies to make material.

That's a lot of competition to deal with. You have to attract as many eyeballs as possible. Maybe that's why show runners have taken the Kink aspects of the relationship up a notch.
