We live in very weird times. People in the future will not believe this when we tell them. (Heck, here in Germany, most people wouldn't believe it ... yet. It's coming here, too)

Left/right leaning is not a useful metric for discriminating between what media is lying to you and what media isn't.
It does help figuring out about what they are likely to lie, though.
Safest thing is probably to read two newspapers from opposite sides of the spectrum.That way, you may be able to piece the truth together.
I am not sure there is any large newspaper that doesn't lie in some way. The newspapers my parents read do not directly lie (not that I caught them at it, anyway) but they very carefully decide which news about the gender nonsense they are publishing. "Oh, look, a cute four year old TIF! Why would anyone have a problem with her using the boy toilets in kindergarten?"
That sort of thing is impossible to prove, and I think all newspapers engage in it. Some, perhaps, without noticing, some actively.
And people get their perception of the world from the news. Since there is never anything in the newspapers, I sound like a conspiracy theorist when I tell them what is going on in the English-speaking world.
You are right. I used to read the NYT, WaPo and listen to NPR.
Now I can’t stomach any of them, but had to choose one for headline news, I chose WaPo. As a nod of thanks for the Pentagon Papers.
It’s a conundrum. I want to know what’s going on, but don’t want to read lies and deceit. The news article referenced here would make me throw things at the breakfast table. It scares the cats.
If it’s that bias site, they also have a scale for how factual the reporting generally is, which is more helpful IMO. Anything but extreme political bias with a decent factual rating is what I consider credible.

Thanks for the fuller picture. Another TIM with a history of sex offending. Convicted in 2011 of sexually assaulting a girl, but not given a jail sentence. Multiple breaches of the conditions of his remaining out of jail have followed, but he's been left to do as he pleases.
BTW, I think the expression "has form" is one of the best Britishisms ever.
I don't know, perhaps it is a mercy he stays out of jail where girls and women at least have a chance to run away from him, instead of being served his victims on a silver platter in women's jail.

This reminds me of a case I read about a sexual assault in a taxi. Oh no, I thought, the piece of shit taxi driver attacked a woman trying to get home. But weirdly, the story said the woman sexually assaulted the taxi driver. “That’s so weird”, I thought. “Did she drunkenly grab his crotch or something?” And then the story continued: “she forced the taxi driver to perform oral sex, and forcibly performed oral sex on him.” By then I was like “holy shit, this woman is deranged. And she must be incredibly strong. Wtf.” Only at the very end did it mention that “she” was a pre-op TIM who had committed the assault with “her penis”. That poor male taxi driver was assaulted by a fucked up dude (who had done this to other men in the past), and it was framed as him being assaulted by a woman.
I think what’s interesting is how it all clicks into place once you realise it’s a dude who did the crime. When you think it’s a woman you are kinda jolted: like “what kind of crazy out of control woman even does that?”
And most outlets are no longer putting this in the story.
