Okay this one did amuse me. It's quite true isn't it? They're not going around calling themselves Johnny Steve McHairyballs, unlike TIMs with their overly fancy names.

That's Lord Edgar Sebastian Fauntleroy Drowned-Child to you.

They're either old Victorian sounding (like Oliver, Elliot, Theodore, Elijah) or like a protagonist in a young adult fantasy novel (Skylar, Xavier/Xander, Asher, Archer).

I feel like the TIFs who are actually lesbians tend to go for the more generic male names, whereas the straight enbies/fujoshis go for the edgy fantasy names.

I have found a few TIFs with very Russian names (they’re not Russian), and they claim to be Jewish/Portuguese and half-Filipino (they’re not).

Identity issues? I dunno..

2014 - 2015 the year of the Aidens.

TIFs usually keep their famiy's surname.

TIMs who come from money or have money keep their surnames.

Those who don't have money, have first and last names that are mashable female names. They are always an amalgamation of the fantasy girl they wish they were.

Then there is a subset of TiMs who steal names from family members, including one who chose his ex-wife's surname to continue his abuse of her.

That's problematic for sure, but you know, Misogynistic Narcissist.

To me it's when child molesters change their names, and suddenly they get lost in the ether of the general population.

My niece stole her Aiden-adjacent name (not a rhyming one, just in the same genre of drowned Victorian children) from her baby boy cousin. She copped to it when I called her on it, not a lick of shame. She said that's what you're supposed to do.

That is beyond gross

It's true, and is one reason I thought the movement was harmless fun until I found out they wanted to complete the aesthetic by removing women's protections in law. But still, people giving themselves ridiculous names is a part of this trend that I hope sticks around, if only for my own amusement when I see someone taking themselves very seriously while calling themselves "Spoon".

"Brik" is already a boys' name haha
