They know we're doing thoughtcrimes. ha!

bannedrui_resinAugust 9, 2021

When you read feminist theory and post on ovarit, it becomes organized thoughtcrime. Such very illegal crimes.

Ooh that just brought to mind a quote about Lord Vetinari, one of my favourite Discworld characters: ā€œCrime was always with us, he reasoned, and therefore, if you were going to have crime, it at least should be organized crime.ā€œ

bannedrui_resinAugust 9, 2021

I love me some Terry Pratchett, and Vetinari is very fine, but I would prefer disorganized crime, please. In roundworld, organized crime is some of the most violent and terrifying of all male behaviour, no? I am thinking of drug cartels, pimps, slavers and people smugglers. They have to be ultra violent to dissuade rivals and witnesses because they cannot call on the law to protect their 'business' and 'property' like the rest of us can.

[Deleted]August 9, 2021

Absolutely. I wouldnā€™t want it either, even with the guilds Vetinari encourages. I just liked the quote wrt us having organised thoughtcrime.

Shall we have a terven matrician? I'm imagining her administrating Ovarit expertly (with the help of a paperwork loving lady, Drumknit) and gazing upon the internet denizens over steepled fingers while plotting sorry, planning, everything.

Love that idea! Especially Drumknit. šŸ§¶

So I've heard:

  • Don't assume my pronouns
  • Magically know my pronouns and it's offensive if you don't
  • If I list two, use both
  • If I list two, use one more than the other
  • Prepare for constant changes in pronouns
  • Use them often in conversation to validate me, and now:
  • Stop using them

GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The one thing I like about Contrapoints is his irritation with pronoun circles- like, I have long hair and nails and makeup and boobs and facial feminization surgery and girly clothing and a modulated voice, you should be able to guess I want to be "she" from this pile of cues.

This goes beyond moving the goalposts; this is building a whole other stadium across town.

If I wanted someone to bark endless contradictory commands at me, I'd buy a Bop It.

I love when they say such blatent nutbar things like this for everyone to see.

Talking directly to a person I use you, when talking about a man I use he and with a woman I use she. Calling yourself a nb doesn't change the fact that you are female or male. It's fine if anyone wants to be silly, but am I, a grown woman with a reasonably working mind, obligated to participate in this nonsense? Seriously?

I read somewhere on this site, that I was supposed to offer useful comments. I find that so hard when half the time I just want to write: F-off.

Apricot_IbexAugust 9, 2021

I find that to be a useful comment in this context. šŸ˜† It was certainly my first reaction and it would be usefulā€¦for venting. Lol.

I will not dance your stupid off-balance dance, no matter how often you think you change the steps.

I thought we weren't supposed to say this anymore because it's not inclusive? šŸ¤Ø

I just love how they can tell that even their "allies" don't really believe in their identities (hence, the performative over-use of pronouns). I just love knowing they know they're getting clocked like Big Ben lol.

actualdykeAugust 9, 2021

classic narcissism. they will literally never be satisfied no matter what you do bc it's not about validation or dysphoria; it's about being able to control what others think and say.

cranberrysaladAugust 9, 2021

Agree with other commenters on the narcissism. And agree with the author in that you really can see people falling all over themselves to virtue signal. Itā€™s like when hardcore Christians fall all over their posts to capitalize the H in his when referring to Jesus/Godā€™s pronouns. Gotta pander to your cult!

Note: I live in the Deep South so I see the ā€œit is His willā€ bs a lot on social media and things like Next Door (really), Iā€™m not religious and donā€™t run in right wing circles. Itā€™s just as unavoidable as TRA bs for me.

JenniferLiamAugust 9, 2021

Imagine wanting to do the right thing as a trans ally. It's literally impossible. Everything you say CAN and WILL be used against you in the court of trans. Luckily I don't give a damn..

Apricot_IbexAugust 9, 2021

A narcissistā€™s ramblings usually do contradict themselves, since the goal is drumming up attention and making people feel bad while ordering them to fulfill endlessly changing, impossible tasks for you.
