Too bad the biologist misunderstood what the TRA was saying. They responded as if the TRA said "genetics don't define sex, chromosomes do" but what they actually said was basically "chromosomes [ie genetics] only define sex for typical cases" with the implication that there are outlier situations like trans where they don't but with zero elaboration on how that is even possible. Equally dumb but I bet TRAs are going to look at that exchange and see it as the biologist being pwnd because "chromosomes are genetics" is completely irrelevant to that point.
They're kind of both right because xx or xy genetics result in female or male phenotype like 99.999% of the time. The only time they don't is incredibly rare, like maybe 200 people total known are sry positive xx males or xy sry negative females.
I think you missed my point. The biologist didn't respond to what the TRA said (as you did when you recognized the grain of truth in their statement). Instead of giving an intelligent rebuttle to what was actually said (for example, agreeing that xy females and xx males exist but they are not trans), they responded as if the TRA had just said something that they didn't actually say - that chromosomes aren't genetics. So for anyone on the other side who might have been convinced by some new information or at least feel some cognitive dissonance, it looks like scientists can't prove the TRA wrong without putting words in their mouth. So I bet both sides are looking at this exchange and thinking "what an idiot", which is unfortunate imo.

Other than the blatant trampling of women's rights, I'm completely over it with these people. You want to cut your privates off at 18 and shoot yourself up with a bunch of man made chemicals so you can act out your fantasy/fetish/delusion? Knock yourself out. Once you hit 30 (if it even takes that long) you'll start to understand why it was a bad idea and why we tried to talk you out of it.

I'd wash my hands of it, but when I was a teen I was dumb as shit and folks still kept my ass alive. I feel like I owe it to at least kind of try to repay the favor.
Teenagers are dumb, belligerent, and incapable of making good life choices. We used to understand that.

I was one of those dumb kids too. One things for sure though, back then I would have been quick to question something that so many institutions, doctors and corporations were pushing. No, we didn't want to "be a pepper too". And as a woman who was young in the 80s I hated the push for boob jobs and plastic surgery back then. I feel like this is just another way to capitalize on kids insecurities and reinforce gender stereotypes. You don't like performing femininity for men? OK, then you're not a woman. But fuck, they are so insufferable. "You hate us and want us to die" - nah, you're doing that to yourself, no need for me to expend energy hating you.

"Science major" is such a useless descriptor. What kind of science, exactly, because programming is also classified as a science.
"Science major" almost always means (a) still in high school, or (b) in college majoring in computer science.
Exactly what I came here to say! Either they're so early on they don't have a specific major, or they know if they specified their actual major anyone with half a brain would realize it isn't relevant at all.
