It's hard to follow these discussions when 5 different things are being called "gender" nowadays. Saw this being talked about in "Trascendent sense of gender" in the podcast Gender: A Wider Lens last week.

At least the respondent is more precise by just saying biological sex. Who would've known sexual orientation would involve sex!

Sometimes I convince myself this movement is led by chronically online teenage virgins and bisexual theater nerds who take too many drugs... I mean, who else would want to invent so much about sexuality when it's in the fucking name? Pardon my French.

I mean I would date a biological man who had lost his penis through a tragic accident or disease.

I would not date a biological woman with a neophallus or a biological man with an intact penis who identified as a woman.

Call me "super straight", call me a "transphobe" - but it's simply what I'm wired to find sexually attractive or not. I can't change that any more than gay people can force themselves to feel hetero attraction.

Sexual orientation is about wiring of one's attractions to one specific or both sexes. It's the TRA movement that is gaslighting us into believing that anyone who's not bisexual (and interested in trans people) is transphobic. Your case is... textbook sexual orientation. Even if a woman has a hysterectomy I can still find her attractive because she's the female sex.

Are they reinventing the wheel?

I literally heard someone say, unironically, if gender isn't real then sexual orientation isn't either and it's all about society.

Listen, I'm sure that like with every other human condition, there is a complex series of factors that result in homosexuality. Even schizophrenia isn't a to b. But by God why do these people have an aversion to the idea that anything is ever biological?

Ask them if you can have sex with someone who doesn’t know their gender identity, or hasn’t disclosed their gender identity, or believes they do not have one. Can they have sex with someone without a gender identity?

And then: can they have sex with someone without their sex aka genitals?

Other methods: ask them if they get aroused by people’s gender identities. Darker question: How can zoophilia, or humans having sex with animals be a possibility, if the person does not know the animal’s gender identity? How is non-consensual sex possible if the rapist does not know the victim’s gender identity?

That will quickly take them away from their magical thinking. At this point it’s a new religion that’s forming.

Smart.

It's astonishing to me how far people have separated sex and reproduction in their minds. The purpose of sex is to reproduce the species. Evolution has made it pleasurable for us since, I suppose, the people who enjoyed it more did it more and so had more offspring. It makes no sense whatsoever therefore that sexual attraction could be understood to mean attraction to a gender rather than a physical sex.

real life is often more complicated than that.

I think that applies to his username as well.

They’re always so confident in their looks (or at least pretend to be). So male, so yawn
