I just checked this post and lmao, even with contest mode enabled only two comments weren't auto collapsed out of 33. I think the downvotes are still very evident.
Dozens of top comments downvoted to collapse and male posters relegated to contest mode with scores hidden.
Have to hand it to them, this solution is pretty TERFy.
Right? If TWAW, why are the mods treating them differently? Literal genocide right here.

Contest-mode also randomizes order rather than sorting upvoted comments to the top, so downvoted threads just bob around anywhere in full view instead of sinking to the bottom.

These brave, brave laydees also have contest mode enabled in the locked “Why all the downvotes?” pinned thread, making it impossible to sort responses based on community reaction.

I saw this change yesterday. Talk about the ultimate hugbox cope. If I were a TIM, I'd feel embarrassed. But hey, we all know they're incapable of any type of shame. My hope is they get their itty bitty man feelings hurt that they can't see their internet validation points and still complain. Because complaining is what they do.
It's true that men turn everything into a dick measuring competition. Very symbolic.
Eta: So tempting to go and get myself banned by commenting like, "What is this contest mode? Like a proper lesbian girldick measuring contest or what?"

What is contest mode supposed to accomplish? It is obvious he's being downvoted. :) And why wouldn't he be? They all have that same stupid smirk on their face.

There have been requests to limit vote visibility for weeks now. I was rooting for it because anything that limits feedback/attention also disincentivizes the behavior…but I was really not counting on this amusingly pyrrhic implementation.
