I’ve always wanted to be queer

Why?? There’s nothing wrong with being “alternative” which is what people mean when they say things like this. Dress how you want, do slam poetry, wear a dress as a man, have sex with men, whatever. But what about being queer inherently appeals to you outside of the aesthetic?

Such a privileged thing to say, when gay men are still being executed over it

The people who say this were never bullied in grade school or called any actual slurs and it shows. They didn’t have to wonder if they’d ever be able to legally marry, they didn’t have to think about hiding their partner’s gender at work, or if their parents would even accept their “life choices”. They didn’t have to worry about being stoned or killed or deported. It’s all just funsies now.

They want oppression chic without the actual oppression. Maybe just a little side-eye or equivalent every now and then (whether real or imagined) so they can throw a righteous tantrum about it, but nothing serious enough that they'd have to shift their priorities away from being a manic pixie dream queer and towards being a mere human trying to survive in a hostile world, like all people with real problems on Planet Earth have to do. But they don't know the difference between these things because they've never endured real hardship, so they think an overworked grocery store clerk looking for a moment like she almost misgendered them is literal genocide.

Do they really not see it how offensive it is? Imagine getting a tan at the beach and then saying "I've always wanted to be an n-word".

Even if they don't consider queer a slur, as a lesbian I had a very hard time accepting my sexuality and my own mother has cried about it because she thought she did something wrong that I turned out this way. I'm happy to be a lesbian now but when I was younger I wanted to be "normal" so badly because guess what not everyone is this privileged or lives in a western country where being gay is quirky and cool

“Wah, I’m (probably) a straight white man starving for attention, so I’m going to masquerade as a woman since I can’t force myself to be gay!”

People with real lives and problems don't have time to navel gaze about this kind of identity bullshit

And this explains why so many trans people are AGP White dudes. Simply changing their pronouns IMMEDIATELY puts them at the top of the leftist/progressive hierarchy

Why do so many men think it would be great to be oppressed?

For the same reason rich kids slum and pretend to be 'poor.' It's all a fanatasy/fetish.

Well that was certainly a bunch of words. WTF? I can’t imagine being this narcissistic.

Sounds to me like a bisexual man who can't accept it due to internalized homophobia. Many such cases

Also he's probably attracted to other transbians, because to them femininity = womanhood (so it's totally not gay of him to date a fellow feminine man /s)
