People need medical communications in clear plain English. NHS communications increasingly use gender neutral language while talking about womens health (they often retain use of the word 'man' in mens health).

For example, when talking about the menopause;

Menopause is when your periods stop due to lower hormone levels. This usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55.
